They can, by law, sue a hacking website that makes their own hacks. I don't know the backgrounds but my dad said something about a case with Nexon and a certain well known hacking site.
Something about the hacks being coded on the local end makes it unsueable.
If they moved all coding to server side the reg would be better but there would be more lag on lower end PC's. It would also solve the hacking problem since it would indeed be fully illegal to cheat with server sided hacks.
^^^ not sure if all that is true, it is what I've heard. -

A certain sight was threatened by Ijji to take a certain game's cheats down and if they didn't they were going to be sued. It is possible and CAN happen legally. I'm sure you are all aware of what I'm talking about. If not, PM or xfire me and I'll tell you. -

Coding hacks is a violation of the intellectual property rights of the owners of the game itself. That in itself can be grounds for a lawsuit.
Maybe you're right. I think what I heard was if hacks were server sided the user using them could be sued. -

Coding hacks is a violation of the intellectual property rights of the owners of the game itself. Crossfire is an owned and copyrighted game by Smile Gate. Any violation of that copyright and the intellectual property rights can most certainly be grounds for a lawsuit, server sided or not. It's just a TON of red tape and paperwork and not to mention, money, in order to get such a lawsuit in motion. It's possible but not necessarily easy to accomplish. -
I'm pretty sure that the public "hatred" towards a particular race of people, regardless of their actions, is considered defamatory, abusive, and encourages unethical behavior (more people acting in the same abusive and/or racist manner towards a particular race). It could also fall under the policies of harassment as stated above. This is not the only example, but the best one in recent days as I have noticed. Consider yourselves lucky that the Moderators and GM's are being lenient with such rules.
Since when did Brasil become a race? Call me crazy but i complain about the regions inhabitants white black brown yellow or little green men. doesnt matter if there BR dont like um due to there own reputation. Remember that next time you go into game early mornings and be the only double digit pinger. Guaranteed to see 2 or 3 kik gringo's -
There's been MANY of days and long nights we've spoke of all of this Kris. And I think people are being generous with their 1 of 5's and 1of 10's. I can put my money on a number like 905 of this LARGE [THOUSANDS] community hasn't read the ToS. Most of the context they don't understand, and the statements confuse them. It's easier to press 'I Agree'. Ultimately, I don't feel things would change even if they read the ToS. People are people, and once given the chance to get away with it once [even knowing the ToS] people will continue. Follow the ToS as admins and moderators and enforce the rules without consideration, debate and/or leniency and you kill the issue. Sadly, a community such as this would die overnight if the rules were enforced to the end. Trollers would enrage and leave, thus taking a crowd with them. They say something like; '30% of the community is on the forums' (I'm trying to remember where I read that). So cutting apart the voice of the community ultimately eats at their feedback and community resources. It's not impossible to hold an iron-fist and continue to hold an active community, but when you've let it run away for so long it would be tough to revive. I'm all for a mature and honest community, but it's not the greatest for business.
. . .
On the note note of Developers suing Distribution sites;
Although legally they can, it won't happen. There's too many strings and loopholes around it all. A case like that will get strung out and eventually dropped. It's similar to pirated distribution. As simple as changing the webiste URL and registering it under a new owner/alias is a big enough loophole to string out the case. You learn about this in business. The majority of internet cases never see the floor because digital crimes are like blocks of swiss cheese. As much as we want to....hacking will continue to live. For every one of us against it, there are two of them coding, distributing & operating. It's a lucrative chain... -
I believe it's quite possible to have a mature and honest community and still have great business. It would actually attract a better demographic of users if the community appeal was greater, especially in terms of following rules, intelligence, maturity, etc. I know your stance on this Bobby and you will never convince me that SOMETHING can't be done to help
