The "How to Get Better at CF" Guide

Introduction

Skills are divided in 2 parts in this game: Ability to aim/dexterity and the others factors. This guide is especially made to inform you about those other factors. This should help you to get better scores in every mode/map without increasing your aiming skills. Let's get started.

Weapons

First of all, you MUST know your weapon. That include:

- The weight
- The rate of fire, the reload time, the switch time
- The damage dealt on every part of the body
- The range and close damages
- The recoil
- The spray pattern while standing/crouching/running
- The 3 and 5 shots burst accuracy
- Other specifications (exemple: XM8 as very high damages through wooden structures)

You have to choose the right weapon for each mode and map.

Here is the common specifications of SMGs, Assault Rifles and Machine Guns.

Example: Accuracy: SMG's accuracy / Assault Rifle's accuracy / Machine Gun's accuracy

Weight: Light / Medium / Heavy
Rate of fire: Very fast / Medium to fast / Slow
Damages: Low / Medium to high / High
Accuracy: Low to medium / High to very high / Low
Reload time: Faster / Normal to long / Long
Clip size: 30 or 40 or 50 / 25 or 30 / 80 or 100

Random tips:

- XM8, G36K, Type-89 and MP5 are useful in maps with a lot of wooden structures.
- TAR-21, Steyr Aug and SG552, they all have the same zoom-in scope. This scope slow down the rate of fire a bit, but increase the accuracy.
- XM8 has a red-dot scope. This scope zoom-in a bit, but put a bigger aimdot. Hopefully, the accuracy is increased and it takes more bullets for the recoil to kick out of control.
- G36K has a "dual-optic" scope. The crosshair form an "+" and again, it increases the accuracy, slows the rate of fire, zoom-in a bit and takes more time for the recoil to kick out of control.
- Silenced guns and Type-89 are perfect for Ghost Mode and pinpointers.
- Machine Guns are perfect in Mutation Mode
- If you empty a clip and your opponent is still alive, it is better to take out your secondary weapon out to finish him.

Maps

You MUST know the map you are playing in. That include:

- Opened/closed area
- Bomb sites
- Sniping, camping, attacking, defending spots and area
- Areas in which you might get naded/sniped
- Places to use the double-jump
- Respawn spots
- Synchronizations in SND, Elimination and Ghost Mode. (exemple: If I am in Global Risk, at 0:10 Black List should be around this area...)
- Disposition of boxes, ladders, glasses, weapons (Alaska and CrossRoad) and other structures

Teamplay

When you enter a game, you should pay attention to this:

- Best players of each team
- Play style of your team or even all your mates (Sniping, rushing, camping, defending...)
- Play style of the opponent team or even all of your enemies (Sniping, rushing, camping, defending...)

If you pay attention to these points, you can adjust your play style to complete your team or disorganize the opponent team.

Examples:

- If the opponent team is defending in a steady position, you might get some problems to rush in.
- If the opponent team is sniping from a far-from-you position, you might have problems to defend in a steady position.

Moreover, it is important for you to know the areas where opponent X, Y and Z are often going. This allow you to anticipate a bit their actions and turn it to your advantage.

I'm talking about about areas, but it might just be a habit; Exemple; Opponent X always throw a nade at spot Y at respawn. Avoid this spot if he respwans.

Playing and movement techniques

Movement techniques:

- Bunny Hop; Will help you to move cloaked while being a ghost. Here is a useful tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VumvaCkIikk
- Double-jump; Will help you to get access to some places faster. Here is a useful tutorial made by the great [MOD]BlindRob: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWKOgiv87To
- Front Bunny Hop; I personally use this one a lot since it's harder to hit someone who is Bunny Hopping forward.
- Quick Scope; Allow you to shoot more accurate with sniper rifles. Here is a useful tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67lQb8LhBDI
- Quick Switch: Allow you to shoot faster with the AWM. How to do it: Immediately press "Q" 2 times after shooting. It is faster than just let the gun reload.
- Quick slash: Allow you to slash faster with the knife. How to do it: Just find the rhythm on which you can tap the mouse and slash all the time.

Playing techniques:

- Always keep your crosshair at the chest or head level. Even in slopes, in ladders, on boxes, in stairways, while jumping... Everywhere.
- Always jump when turning a corner. So if someone heard you, he would prefire your feet and not your head.
- At long range, if you must move your crosshair horizontally a bit to hit the opponent, it is better to strafe than moving your mouse. Strafing is the best way to put your crosshair at the good horizontal place without changing your vertical level.
- If you know that an opponent is going toward you from the corner, prefire him; You will have the advantage of the 1rst and maybe 2nd bullet and you will surprise him.

Frames Per Second (FPS)

Just close all useless processes while you're playing. Even your internet pages if you want.

This free and safe and useful program can help your to boost your FPS. I use it since many months. It works by pausing all the useless processes on which you can't really turn them off manually. It's hard to say, but it works. Here is the link: http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

Conclusion

I just hope this tips can help you. You may have noticed that I didn't talk about ZP stuff. It is because I wanted this guide to be the most accessible possible. If you do not agree about some things mentioned (it's OK, I understand), you may send me private messages. I'll be pleased to answer and deliberate with you. Finally, sorry for the bad English, it is not my first tongue.

May it serves you well,
Have a nice week!

    cuz they can.
  • the only way to get good at a bad game is to be good at a good game.
  • I dont really know how this is suppossed to help people. After an active month you know most or atleast the original of the weapon, as the m4 (you might not know about the m4 gold). You always create new favourite maps. I got loads of favs but also some that i dislike. And to be honest, i still dont know much about Ceyhan. This isnt really necessasery. And when you discover the joy in forums you already knows all of this. So actually, you wasted your time. :) Sorry.
