miami server did not help, the intention was good but did not help, my ping is much better in the delta than in miami.
our classrooms and in the delta are already fixed, it's compounded by all Brazilians.
would be nice if you had ever a person to investigate the replay online and thus give satisfaction to whom I report
Theres no way for us to investigate reports live, in-game or close to real time on the site.
Reports get handled in the order they come in.

And we don't have time to give personalized replies to every ticket.

But disregarding that: Why would they take ping and FPS in to consideration?

If you guy's do not handle the repots, then who does? the REVS?

I understand .. but I disagree as the answer, I do believe that should be answered, because we often do not know if you took note of the replay, the ban list should return [my opinion]

    The staff in office.
MODS are volunteers to handle the forum. We work from home and unpaid.

There are however lots of people working in the office, in Canada.

Theres no way for us to give you a personalized answer to every report. That time is better spent actually REVIEWING the report.

The ban list was incomplete and inefficient. No point keeping it up since it only resulted in a bunch of flame.

and who is responsible for investigating the replays?

Another thing I do not understand

why not ban the player who uses hacking by ip?

at least we'd have no certainty that player will continue playing with another account with the same hacker!

    GM and staff

cause they can just change their IP......

we have to wait a week for the player reported to be banned?!
this is absurd! meanwhile we die we play clean for those who use hacking, funny huh?!
prq moderator if they need to investigate the replay talk to me! by the way that the Z8 is not keeping up!

ok im taking a guess... but....
im guessing that the blatent hackers (can) banned quick...
its the people who try and hide it... maybe a few have to look at it at same time to find out hackin or not.... speacily people who get reported and aint hackin... they have to make sure....
    thats why some take longer

We use several methods for getting rid of hackers. One of which IS IP-banning.

said not to change the ip but the ip block

Is there a way to contact these guys? I really want to know who is behind all of this, whether its one guy or a ton, seems like there should be more.

Ip block hacker, then hacker change his IP, what now?

We have several GMs on this forum.
    [GM]Saidin, [GM]GoTsoL, [GM]Hpx, [CM]FallenAngel.

And no, IP banning is not as inefficient as people think.
Most proxies just go at port 8080 or 80. The crossfire executable doesn't use either.
You can make an account. But you can't use it.
  • Munzta wrote: »

is not so simple to change the ip, even if you change will be harmful, all programs that exist to change the ip lag makes amends ping bet that much longer to play because of it!

Well, that's just four people. I'm willing to bet we have hundreds of thousands of players. Thus, a ton of replays. Maybe some of them go unwatched? Or do these guys get some help? and if they do, are those who help professionals like the GMs?

[MOD]Ddott thanks for your replies. Although it hasn't seem to make much of a difference in these past few weeks. Are these guys getting hacks from the same source? OR what? Can you guys eliminate those sources? Can we backtrack to why people would turn to hacks in the first place? Is it because there is lack of sometype of game-play missing? Are players demanding too much from this free game?

My response is this. I think people hack because they become overly distressed with players who are actually legit. So how do they resolve this tension that they themselves have created? They turn to hacks. Wherever and however it is done, they find ways. I think people find it very easy to make new accounts and get back what they lost in a matter of days. And those are the obvious hackers. For those who spend money on Z8 Points, they try hard to cover up their hacks. Believe me, I've spend countless hours watching replays, determining who hacks and who dont.

Recently, GM Saidin has been hinting at a new way to counter hacks, or make people less interested in hacking. Is this update coming soon? And, can we be sure that this program or whatever it is, eliminate the hack and its sources? And how about a weekly patch, say every weekend, or midweek, to patch new hacks that surfaces. That eliminates hackers and the chances that they would want to hack. I think if it gets patched every week, people would less likely want to hack.

And finally, I just want to comment on the numbers of MODs, and GMs for CF. Is there any possible way to get more members to the staff? I'm more than sure there are thousands of players on all the time, and during the weekends, even more. Having more CF MODs in game will likely add to the chances of people having the guts to hack, with high ranked accounts that is. And Ddott you've done a nice job of that , I've seen you the most. I think these small things that don't account to very much being done, can do a lot to eliminate people who want to cheat for a free game.

I might want to suggest Z8 taking in donations for these kinds of updates. I say if people donate to CF or Z8, they should be rewarded for their efforts to helping CF stop cheating. Lets say donating $8, or 10,000k ZP can net in people getting 5k EXP up or stuff like that. Or maybe 10 coupons. Something like that to encourage the CF Community's involvement to help reduce hackers/cheaters. Let me know what you guys think.

i think people turn to hackin coz low fps high ping want to play better...
im lucky ive allways had 220+ fps... i live in england get 95-110 in canadian - 125miami - and under 15 on uk( most the time)

the thing u said about more in game mods/staff... maybe get a new type of mod/staff.. good legit players that play alot ( with proof ) could go through a screening process make sure they are good legit players... at the end make it so there game reports get maybe seen first... and if u get enough of them so theres a few on every server( not channel)
people will think again about using a hack with 1 of them around

all in all hackers mess the game up for people like me who dont even play competitivly not really...
i play for fun AND thats it... although i am good wihtout trying.....
but also i tend to find if u try hard u fail hard... playin while relaxed is so much better
    (bleh went off topic again)

Those are just people on the forum, yes.
Reports do not go unwatched. It just takes time.

[MOD] dot I appreciate your attention, unfortunately I have to leave now, my son wants to play here, let me ask you something, you talk to the GMs [GM] saidin, [GM] GoTsoL, [GM] Hpx [CM] FallenAngel. is made to a poll by the banned list, I'm sure will be of great importance to the clan since the players know each other, thus preventing the entry of known hacker in our clan!

he's trying to say the bp aint high enough to put up with the hackers i think lol

The ban list will not become available again. Nor would it help you keep your clan safe.

If the person is on the ban list - his account is blocked, he can not apply to your clan - you do not have to check it before accepting someone, since nobody on it can apply.

I've been cheating your liutenants samurai army of samurai and today I am ever testo I do with all the players coming here to see if hackers use, and use a program called octinium and ask for them at the time of test use also to ensure their honesty.

well thats if u could tell wot ping and fps they had for the report....

if u could tell that they low pinger with nice high fps .....
they can go round a corner and see enemy faster than anyone else like me....
on uk server i get called hacker all the time...
    i have under 15 ping and 220-340fps....
the ping helps with no tanking.... and also see them b4 they see you...
and the fps helps with rounding corners and seeing enemy as they come into view...
not go round corner with 30fps and then suddenly they infront of you....

with the high fps i can even keep an eye on laggers.... its funny watching someone lagg on the spot for a sec or so... then follow them as they run 50 mile an hour to the spot they stopped lagging on...

    hope this helps ya

I think there is security risks and rights of personal privacy amongst those who are banned, therefore there cannot be a public list again. But I think in the near future, maybe having more GMs to watch replays, because there are tons, should help with bans. I hope that when GMs do watch replays, they take the time to watch the entire video, and not just the first few minutes or rounds. Sometimes, hacks don't always occur at the beginning.

The replay shows what the server sees.

You really don't know how many are working on replays. Assuming there isn't enough is kind of ridiculous.
Of course they won't employ one person per replay that needs checking up on.
Handling massive amounts of data takes time.

And yes, they know how to watch a replay.

    I didn't ban anyone.
Nor was it major. Just another hacker amongst thousands banned.
    Whats your point specifically?
  • If you want statistics, I've given a few reports. Every single one of the players have been banned who I have turned in.
Just keep a running Excel spreadsheet like I do. Keep their exact names and date when you turned in the report. Check one to two weeks later. If they haven't played recently, they're probably banned. If you can't find their account, they've definantly been banned. It's 100% been proven that this is a fact.;)
AND, it is veeeeeeery easy to do. You can do it in Word and it's still quite easy to do.
    Respectfully,
    PROACEX1

My point is that we don`t know if your actually banning people hacking. Yes you banned someone for hacking amongst the thousands of people hacking and at least we know he was hacking for he told us in a thread.
