Crossfire runs Punkbuster.

Where no hack can get passed?
LOLOLOLOL.
No. CrossFire does NOT run PunkBuster and probably never will, X-Trap is doing fine, and probably a better job.
For anyone who wants to say it can keep any hack out though, go talk to Grey.
...And if I believe right, doesn't WarRock use it? If so, that just shows how bad it is.
But on topic, CrossFire does NOT use PunkBuster, only X-Trap. -
From what I've seen Punk Buster is supposed to be really good, there are some games (Battle Field 2 I believe) where apparently no one was able to hack.
So yeah.
Even if it was indeed bad, shouldn't outright laugh at his question.
I wasn't laughing at his question now was I? His question wasn't if it kept all hacks out.
You should re-read.
I laughed at the fact everyone thinks it's good, when it usually only works good for games you have to pay for. -

Fair enough, could argue you weren't taking him seriously but then again Crossfire obviously doesn't run punk buster so it's kind of hard to take him seriously.
I really don't know much about Punk Buster outside of a few games (Battle Field 2) etc, so I wouldn't know how bad it is for free games -

Punkbuster is ONLY good when you have privately run dedicated servers and active admins for each one. War Rock had Punkbuster, and look how that turned out. There really aren't any games which nobody's been able to hack. Go ahead and look up Battlefield 2 hacks on Youtube, you'll see plenty. -
The reason that PnkBstrA is in your process list is because you either installed or had previously installed a game that uses it. Crossfire has not, and never will use Punkbuster as an anticheat.
This does beg the question: why are you using a debugger in an attempt to disassemble what you thought Crossfire's anticheat was? -
warrock is the only one that runs punkbuster and warrock doesnt have many hacks for it accept maybe infinit sprnt thats about all so punk bust is pretty good but cf use xtrap they used to use game guard but gameguard was butt so they switched to xtrap which is doing a little better but there will always be coders and they will always find a bypass for any anti cheat system the only game that i think is doing petty good in terms of hack prevention is soldier front the only hack thats out for sf is vip and that cost $30 combat arms is by far th worst but they doing a little better job nowadays and ava im not sure about but i heard they suck with hack prevention wolf team has a hacker here and there and any other fps is to new for ppl to get the codes for and stuff like mercenarie wars and the other game thats doing good with hack prevention is op7 they had a hack problem for all of two days and then it was fixed so yea if u want to play a game with rarley any hackers try sf or op7

Who runs it? Evenbalance. As far as free to play games that use it, there are none that I'm aware of. As mentioned earlier, punkbuster does not work well with games that don't use dedicated servers. It also seems to work with purchased games, but thats more likely due to people not wanting to waste their money if they get banned.
