DrPepper's Guide To Downtown
Firstly, Downtown is an evenly matched sided map. Whereas most maps are BL favoured, Downtown provided lots of space in the map of which GR can move into before BL. If you use the map to your advantage on both sides, you will be able to control the mental thought of the game, this is a key factor.
As BL, i think its important for me to lay down a few key things that you should know. You may already know them, but they will help a player who doesnt quite alot.
* Smoke Grenades can come in handy when slow-playing B site on this map. It gives you the safety that you can move foreward knowing you will not get flanked from behind.
* When slow-playing B site, there are various camping spots that GR use to gain the advantage, the way around this, is to shoulder peek.
* Shoulder peeking for me is just a quick peek to see where the enemy is at. You dont necessarily have to make a shot.
* Make flanking positions slowly, with two people, walking through the water can help make a flanking spot.
The places to smoke on the map when slow-playing B site are; The connector (This stops any flanks from behind and also buy's you time as the enemy dont know if you will rotate into A site, forcing them not to rotate fully.) and the Pillars (These are found by the Hummer V closest to the GR spawn, smoking here will prevent any sniper fire from the GR spawn, granting you a safe passage into the planting zone.
There is a small CF-Mart on the way to B site with the railings 3/4 closed. If you drop a sniper into this room when slow-playing B site, he can watch the behind perfectly with a sniper.
Usually, when I call i dont push into B site untill roughly 50 seconds left, this basically ensure that all of the GR have been eliminated in B site.
Remember to play un-predictable, dont stop in the same place every round
When you play A site, its too big a risk to just full rush the CF-Mart. The GR have easy rotates and before you know it its 5 vs 5 again in one site. You are going to want to have 2 or 3 with the bomb going to the CF-Mart. The other 2 will go through B site, fully smoking and trying their hardest to make it look as if all 5 of your team is there. They will then cut through the connector and push into A site.
With good communication, the people who push from the CF-Mart will clear the connector before the guys at B site push it.
The great thing about A site after youve planted is... You only have to have one person stay actually in the bomb site after you plant. Theres hardly any cover inside the bomb site, so you can sit abit further back.
Finally! Moving on to GR!
I think its very important to have one person inside the connector, closest to A site incase he needs to rotate. With another person actually in a site. Then you can have another person in the underground tunnels, preventing flank. This gives you 1 at B site and one floater. Remember to keep your spots varied (sometimes impossible in cases such as connector). You need to flank as much as possible using this map, most teams stop moving at some point on the map, trying to get a pick. If one of your team members sees all 5 players at one point, you can rotate through the other site.
Dont play out in the open, make sure your constantly in cover with a good view of the path ahead.
Keep communications open! Keep in contact so you know exactly where the enemy is.
I know the GR is pretty short, but im tired.
Its my first guide, please tell me if its **** or good or whatever.
Thanks for reading i hope it helps.

If i was to write a guide to this map it would say pretty much the OPPOSITE.
Downtown is a map where the player can easily float from one place to the other, which means, put on your stealth and ninja clothing ppl. Smoke? When detected, sure. Pre-nades? No. Dont make a sound! Hear the enemy first, arrange position accordingly.
Example: GR- run quickly through B-site towards connector, jump the boxes into the sewer entrance room. From here you can jump down the sewer without even being heard if you are quick, then camp behind ladder listening. Enemies run past you above, inform team, either jump up again or come sneaking into B site. badabing, badaboom.
PLENTY of hiding places in B, A alike. Just need to figure them out. When defending a site that has been bombed (BL), timing is everything. You can cover many sides as being above too. Many targets, spread out = duckhunt the defusers!
Pretty much my pic of DT, in very super cerial short
