Hi I new to this game and fps gameing, and was thinking there has to be files i dont need that i could delete to make the game run smoother.I have gone threw the forums and see kill badges and sound packs, and thought there must be things we dont need. SO if you know any of the things i could get rid of, or change, please tell me. Thanks.

get gamebooster, it increases your fps a lil.
(mine went up from 25 to 38)
and no If u delete 1 rez file, or UI files the game will crash

ummmm besides the killmarks and sound paks. There realy isnt anything else u can 'delete'.

Although background files such as; the map logo when you click on a room, can be modified to take up less space. To do this you need the proper program, you may use Gimp. To modify: open for example the map logo file (LobbyMap0.tga) edit it so it only shows one color and resave.

Also, name logo tags(NameCard1.tga) that u buy to show behind your name can be deleted. As well as Sprays (spray_i00.TGA). This set of files are more miscellaneous than anything else, and you dont realy need them.

You can modify most .tga files so that they are more simple, therefore using less space. These files are located C:\Program Files\Z8Games\CrossFire\rez\UI (MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU)

Like the previous post, programs like gamebooster and smartclose help. Also try clearing out your computer: Internet history, disk cleanup, disk defrag etc.



I suggest you be prepared to redownload CF if you decide to mess around with the games files. Anyone new to modifying the game files will probably mess up.

All truely important files for CF are hidden, but there are files that if deleted/modified will cause your game unplayable. Avoid:
.dll
.fnt
.fxd
.rez
.ini
.msz
.cft
.txt (several files you can fool around with)
Most of these files are necessary. I suggest learn more b4 messing with any of the files listed.
