Nvidia 8400 GS hp laptop problem .
When the game is loading , I can get into the login screen . And then when I press my pass word , it can go in but is so slow . I just like stuck at one screen and 30 sec later maybe jump the the server selection .
When it went there , it said Limit server selection and so on .
I mean Do I have to fix some setting on this card before play. Wat do I need to do in Nvidia Control Panel. Or update to latest driver
My laptop is dv6700 , DUO 2 CORE T8300 , 3GB RAM , 8400M GS 256 MB Dedicated , Total Memory is 1500MB
is this old version of my video card . I just check nvidia website , there is newer version , do I have to update .
Someone please help , thanks for your helping.

Looks like you're using vista. Try setting crossfire to run under XP SP 2 and run as administrator if you haven't already.
E: From the way I've seen the screens evolve from your current to the newest version, it looks like there should be an update for you. Go here:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Put in your computers information, download the latest drivers, and see if anything updates. -
yeah everything just perfect except when I open crossfire and loading and login , everything is freeze and slow .
I think I need to update the newest video card , can u guys check this link if it is right version update for my 8400GS.
Please , I just got this laptop today, AND NOW I am so mad that I can't play Crossfire .Maybe I need to update.

btw what is u setting in the screen above . I just put let 3d decide . -
please help me , someone in the forum told me that i need to over clock software to make game work . how can i do that
qoute from Vanthers : "This actually happens to more than one Nvidia card. What you need to do is turn off any overclocking software and allow the application to decide the graphics settings. Crossfire needs to control it all and then once the game works fine. Start your overclocking software again." -

You would be overclocking the graphics card, I would not recommend you to do that, since it shortens your GFX Card's life.... -

I would not recommend overclocking your GPU since it will run hotter than usual. And being in the laptop there wont be much room to dissipate the heat. As a result you might get lower fps then before. Trust me, my laptop with ATI GPU runs very hot and gives fps close to 5-10fps after only 5 mins of playing.
My suggestion is to lower you graphics settings, see how that works. nAnd as for the drivers update it from HP website.
Sorry, forgot to add couple of more things.
1. Make sure you are running on High Performance mode, Power saver mode will make your CPU run slower therefore load time for CF will be more.
2. Use Lan for playing CF, wifi occasionally makes u lag...atleast in my case. -

Also, since it's a laptop you cannot use the drivers that come from Nvidia. The drivers that you need come from your laptop's manufacturer.
You sure about that? I've updated drivers from nvidia's site myself before using laptops. -
For the most part laptop manufacturers use OEM versions of their drivers. For instance, when I got my current laptop I went to Nvidia to obtain current drivers. Upon trying to install the drivers I received a warning that I would need to go to the manufacturer's site to download the appropriate drivers. Integrated chipsets do not use a standard hardware configuration, so although reference drivers may or may not install, they could cause system instability.

Have a look at this link:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3632100&taskId=135
Find the exact model number of your laptop (dv6700 is a series name) and look for the proper driver updates. -
-
Again, the drivers from the nvidia site will most likely not install on your laptop. Laptop manufacturers use drivers specifically designed for their systems. Check the link that I posted and pick your exact model number from the list. You will be able to get a listing of available drivers for the computer.

ok what is the different between OVER CLOCK graphic card and Overclock software
I am sick of this , Should I update the graphic card from nvidia website
Check this for definition of overclocking http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overclocking
I doubt you need overclocking. However to run the game smoothly and connect to the servers and login try what i do.
1. Turn off any programs that you are running (i.e. torrents, browsers, msn, or anything that is using up your bandwidth and internet connection)
2. Use LAN instead of wireless
3. I dont turn off the antivirus, but you can try turning it off.(not recommended)
4. Check if your firewall is blocking CF or not.
5. (MOST IMPORTANT) Check the replies from MOD GreyCloak. He explained where to update the drivers for your GPU
If you are still having touble updating driver contact HP Support
