Is your Computer have a REALLY LOW FPS? Well, St4yd0wns here to save the DAY.
Category1.) Increasing your fps by programs
Category2.) Increasing your fps by upgrading Computer Components.
Notes: Before reading this guide i would like ALL of you to do a thorough Virus Scan and Defrag, Viruses are harmful and can also decrease your FPS. Trust me, it happened with my little brothers computer. To defrag, here link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsYt821jGQ8
or you may download a program (better IMO) to defrag link:http://www.piriform.com/defraggler.
Frames Per Second/FPS:Frame rate, or frame frequency, is the frequency (rate) at which an imaging device produces unique consecutive images called frames. The term applies equally well to computer graphics, video cameras, film cameras, and motion capture systems. Frame rate is most often expressed in frames per second (FPS) and in progressive scan monitors as hertz (Hz).
Category 1.)
A better fps offers much smoother gameplay, which also results in better performance and helps you play better. Playing with a low fps really sucks!
1.) The first way to increase your fps, is by saving up ram. Basically the more ram you have available the better fps. Right click "My Computer", go to "Properties" than "Advanced: then go to Performance tab. Click adjust for best performance. This may change you taskbar to Windows 98 style but you will notice a big increase in fps. Also, taking over a desktop image helps fps to.
2.) Gamebooster, a highly rated Game performance helper stops all programs from running while your playing your game. Link here:http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html and how to use Gamebooster here:http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-Use-Game-Booster-Software-134449046
3.) Make sure your graphics settings are low on Crossfire and use 800x600 Resolution.
4.) Updating your computer and GPU cards are important make sure you have the latest drivers for best performance.

Category 2.) Increasing your FPS by computer components.
Got some $ and want to increase your FPS? Well, the 3 most important components that affect your FPS are a Graphics Processing Unit, RAM and a CPU.
1.) GPU, they come 3 forms. PCI AGP and PCI Express. Nowadays we use PCI express. To find whether you need a PCI AGP or PCiE Call the Manufacturer of your motherboard or Google your Motherboard type to Specify the exact type. A 50$ card can get you over 60fps. To install a GPU its easy you can do it yourself watch this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9x097QRXeA
2.) RAM, basically the more the faster your computer is and more fps you have. Come in 3 forms (Nowadays) DDR DDR2 DDR3. Mostly we used DDR2 and 3. For windows xp you should have atleast 756mb of ram. You want 2gb of ram for a GOOD fps. If you have windows xp 32 bit 3gb of ram is max. 64 bit you have over 6gb. To find which type of RAM you need use this scanner and displays which kind:http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/. 2gb of ddr2 ram is like 50$
3.) CPU, the "Big Momma" Also helps your fps. Over 2.GHZ is good for a decent fps. You should get a technician to install one as they are a little hard.
Thank you for reading i hope it helped. -

For people complaining about lag just get a better computer or buy better computer parts.
The computer won't affect the ping (unless it's a laptop, which typically adds +10 to the ping status). Configuring your PC will have minimal different in improving your ping. The only way to lower it, is to get a better, high-speed, connection. -

i play on a laptop and i get 10-50 fps and concerning about ping i get 10 ping everytime i play (well 9-12) so if i play on a desktop i should get -1 - 2? -
If this doesn't work I'll kill and eat you.
But if it does, then I'll love you. (No gay)
Also, I got 512 MB of RAM. Is that bad? '_'
Do you have 512mb of total ram or does your video card itself have 512mb of ram? If it's your pc than yeah, that is bad. ---end from this point on I am not refering to you below
On another note game booster is hardly worth using. Unless you are a complete moron there is no need to have gamebooster as it hardly frees up any ram...wait...unless you are a complete moron that has no business gaming on a pc. If you need gamebooster to game on your pc then you have one of two problems and maybe both.
1: You have a weak system and need to squeeze out any ram you can get. You could go to newegg and spend $20-$40 and purchase some more ram to avoid this problem.
2: You are a complete moron and don't know how to shut down unnecassary programs running on your pc. Easiest way to do this is alter your start-up programs and shut down ones you know you don't need. Do some research on google to see if you truly need everything that is running.
Also note that your fps is dependent on the game engine you are playing. I.E. Xbox publishers try to keep a minimum of 60fps on all their games. If the games go below that they remove models, ai characters, etc., to keep it above that. CrossFire's engine (Lithtech Jupiter Extended) is a little old so it's limited on it's abilities. You can only get so much fps from it.
Now, for all of you with less than 30 fps you really need to consider upgrading your pc. If you have an integrated graphics card than you should really consider purchasing a new gpu. Add a few ram sticks and your good to go, maybe...if your cpu doesn't suck...wait...then you need to also upgrade your psu...crap...this is starting to add up. -

More like 30. Most televisions cannot refresh any faster, nor can you tell the difference. Movie cinemas show their film at 29fps and no one sees 'lag'. My monitor only refreshes at 65hz, the other 200fps are wasted CPU cycles.
