solving a misunderstanding about UK server

I just wanted to say this:

everybody is posting "test your ping by going to www.speedtest.net and blablabla"

just so you know: the ping of this speedtest will NOT be your ping to the UK server!

it's not only the location that decides your ping, there are a lot of more things that will change your ping.

first of all, ofcourse, the location, like we all know.

but then there is also:

- what is the speed of the internet provider the server will use?
- how many frames will the connection pass between your pc and the server pc? (for example: does it have a direct link to the ISP, or does it have to go through 10different locations before going to the ISP itself)
- how good is the computer? a better server also gives a better ping
- how many players are online on the server? (for excample: my own ping on canadian server right now is 105-115 when not many people are online, and 125+ when servers are crowded).

etc, etc, etc. there are many more reasons that will affect your ping.

why do I say this? some people are whining they would still have a high ping, some people want the server to be on other places, cause they want a lower ping. I saw for example portuguese guys saying it should be in portugal cause they would still have 90+ ping to the uk... but think about it: how far is portugal away from the uk? how big is canada? it's a lot of a bigger difference, and people from the other side of canada, or from the USA still have a ping below 50 (well, depends where in USA, how fast their internet is, etc... ofcourse some have 50+, but you get my point, right?)

don't think the speedtest will be exactly the same ping as the one you will have to crossfire! for excample: according to the speedtest, my ping to toronto would be like 270, my ping to crossfire (CF server is in toronto as well!) is 105-130. big difference, isn't it?

if the UK server in crossfire will be as good as the server in toronto (and probably it will be, cause I think around 40% of the players are from EU, or close to EU (for example: marocco is in africa, but not far away from EU)) then I'm pretty sure we'll all have a better ping then the 1 from speedtest.

if you get 50ping from speedtest, then you might even have like 20 on CF UK server, who knows? your exact ping will only be known when the UK server actually is online! so please do not stare blindely at that speedtest!

I hope that this helps the people who think that the EU server won't be better than the us servers now. and I hope people will stop whining about where the server should be placed and things like that. ofcourse I'd like it more as well if it would be in my country than in the UK, but don't worry, we all will get a better ping (well, the europeans :P not talking bout the americans now ;)) please keep that in mind!
