Melee Combat Tips
--- I think CrossFire Guide should be the most appropriate place to post this ---
****I am a professional knifer in Crossfire, Master Assassin as what I like to call it lmao. I've never used Combat Axe or Field Shovel ever since the first time I tried them. The reason is that knife is very flexable, It has less weight, the fastest attack speed (you will learn how to attack fast in my lesson), and it's a 100% free available resource. Whoever views this might learn something from my tips and tricks. These tips and tricks may develope into your personal skill if you put your mind to it.****
Now... lets get started:
(1): DEFENCE "You charged at your enemy and try to slash / underhand stab, all the sudden your opponent stabed you first... and you die."
Never be over confident, never charge at your enemy (especially if he or she wields a combat axe/field shovel). It's Either your attack striked too slow and your enemy killed you immediately or your opponent leaned back to dodge your attack to "counter-strike" you and you die. the solution is to circle around your enemy, always focus on your opponent. If he or she strikes, press "S" to move backwards to dodge attack. After you dodge the attack, counter attack with an underhand stab on his head (field shovel/combat axe have strong hits but they are pretty slow). Charging at your enemy lowers your self-defence greatly. For a very quick escape/ dodge, jump backwards.
(2): PERSONAL DISTANCE "Oh my god! that guy just ranged with his knife/combat axe/field shovel"
Heres the problem; either you lagged or you are too close to your enemy. Always keep a distance between you and the player(s) you are fighting. this have relevants to the 1st tip; when he or she enters your barrier of personal space, lean back and do a hard strike on your opponent and he or she... drop dead.
(3): AGILITY "I tried camping by standing at one place to wait for the person to charge at me, but he killed me before I can lean back"
Never stay at one place if somebody have decent experience in melee combat is charging at you (doesn't matter what kind of person he or she is, just don't). Always move around, dance around, with focus on your opponent. This have chance giving confusion to your enemy and more outlets for escaping an strike from your enemy(ies).
(4): SLASHING "why can't I kill him? I slashed soo many times and my effort were pointless. then I got killed."
This tip will be very helpful in sticky close quarter situations. Do not hold your mouse and slash-stab-slash-stab-slash-stab... If you haven't notice, after each slash+stabs you have to wait 1 second for it to slash+stab again. During that one second, your enemy can have a great advantage to strike and kill you. To slash properly, slash one by one by continuously clicking your mouse. Do not let it stab (this is stab I'm refering to not the underhand stab that does 90-100 damage), only slashes. let it slash once and right after it slashed, click again to slash. Do this not too fast not too slow, there'll be a quarter of a second gap between each slash but I gurantee you this is faster and more effective slashing. I repeat again, slash one by one by clicking your mouse, doing only slashes no stabs. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO UNDERHAND STABS (right click) MOST OF THE TIMES IN NORMAL FIGHTING METHODS.
(5): UNMISSABLE ATTACK "I tried underhand stabbing, but I missed. My opponent already passed by behind me very fast"
When you and your opponent are charging into eachother and your opponent is running pass you, right whey you right click for an underhand stab, turn around (to the sides or possibly behind) to the direction where your enemy is charging at and place your knife into your opponent. This way you will never miss a shot on your opponent.
(6): EAGLE DIVE / BACKSTAB "When I attack someone, I died so fast! My hp went down to 0 immediately! and it showed that the person did a headshot on me at my deathcam"
Sometimes, never stay on the ground when melee fighting. staying on the ground, people can get you by the head very easily. You might want to attack by jumping up and underhand stabbing them on the head when landing. This helps on your survival from a 1 shot K O because your head is in the air, away from reach (do not do dive attacks often). Theres this other type of attack, this attack is very effective against Combat Axe / Field Shovel Users. When they come charging or even a simple moving forward attack to you, move to either side (left or right) and when he misses, turn around and stab your enemy on the side or behind if you are lucky.
[Overall Summery] So basicly, pretend that this is real life combat. Make your movements realistic like dodging attacks, counter attacks, and reflexes. Put your soul to it, controll your CrossFire charactor like if it's your own body! XD [Overall Summery]
--TIPS FOR OCCATIONAL EVENTS--
(8): LAGGY SITUATION "OMFG WTF IM LAGGING SO BAD I KEEP ATTACKING HIM BUT I DIE!!!"
When you are lagging (300 to 4000 ping), never attempt to attack your opponent!!! This applies to any matches not only knifing. keep running away from your opponent, keep a a very far distance (especially in one on one matches). If this isn't a one on one match, tell your teamates to protect you. If they don't, go hide in a corner until the your ping goes down (If it doesn't, hide till the game is over. Never exit game because that adds a "lose" in your win/lose ratio if you want to keep a good player record). In one on one matches, at least convince your opponent to stop fighting until the lag is over (this definately do not work with people that doesn't speak your own language ;( ...).
I hope these tips and tricks will develope into your personal skill and makes you a successful knifer! These tips make me Ace and outstanding in Knife Matches all the time. HAVE A NICE DAY!!! / GOOD NIGHT!!! (depending on where you are living lol)...

nice guide, forgot to tell people about the "death from above" attack used on G.M.
How to?
Simple, jump from a high statement, left click while mid-air (try to time this, too early you miss, too late you're dead) and land right in front of the guy, instantly giving it an headshot stab =D
