What is a true Sniper.
Well let's see! Try going to the U.S. Army Sniper school in Ft. Benning, GA.
or the one in Camp Robinson, AR. or the one at the USMC base in Hawaii.
Or even any of the sniper schools in the world, before you call yourself a sniper.
Basic guidelines for a sniper; Marksmanship, Physical Condition, Vision, Intelligence,
Mental Condition and a Non-Smoker.
Then after you are done with your training, then spend some time over in Iraq
and Afghanistan and see what you are made of.
"one must earn the right, before he can call himself a SNIPER.
So I guess if I play the Madden NFL Football video game, I can now call myself a
pro football player?........"NOT"

But seriously, being a simple sniper is easy.
Sit there, look in the scope, see someone, pull the trigger.
Nope. Stealth, breath, timing, aim, ammunition, visibility, enemy and lots more. -
I think that this belongs in off topic if you people are going to come here and fantasize about becoming a Army or Navy Seal Sniper or somthing like that. 250+ pounds is too much for all of the military branches so don't get your hopes up, get your ass of that seat...fattee.

What's the point to this thread?
I was an army trained sniper but you can't compare a game to real life....And none of us boast about being snipers in RL, that is only for games where nothing is on the line except ego. -

Well, in real life you have to account for things such as gravity (bullet drop), wind, the rotation of the earth, moon cycles (unless I'm mistaken on that one...), etc...
The way CF does it, a bullet could travel the entire universe in a straight fricking line no matter what...-_- -

go play some multiplayer in sniper elite, has most of the things you complained about. anyway I don't know why my bullet would be dropping when most of the shots in cf are less then 200 yards. -
Ummm probably not. What's the point to this thread?

Depending on the caliber you are going to use, the purpose of sniper will change drastically. For example, 7.62 cal sniper rifles will serve mainly anti-personnel strikes. The larger "anti-material" caliber is designated to take down armored, solid targets. For instance, you normally won't snipe a dude with a Barrett.
Besides, a sniper bullet does NOT fly straight as some might think. You need to know wind speed, distance trajectory curve and all the small things you don't hear about in CoD, CF, CS or whatever else you might imagine. Snipers are fine mathematicians.
EDIT: A bullet does not fly straight when it has to go bigger distances I mean. On shorter distances the wind and distance curving might be neglected with little miss chance. -
