Ok, so I purchased a Tar 21 today, and went into my first match with it in Downtown. Bam, came out 27-1. I was like d00d this is an awesome gun.
Went to ghost mode. 21-6. d00d this gun r0x.
Went to escape. 32-45. Wth? Apparently it sucks at Escaping. But it's good for anything else, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a new gun.

I have to disagree only because I absolutley stink with the Tar-21.
I tried it a lot and unless you pop someone with a HS right away you get absolutely smoked from medium to short range. It is ok at long range. The XM8, QBZ, AK, M4, AK 74 GS36 just about all other rifles outshoot the Tar for me.
I guess my style is just not suited for the TAR. I am more of a burst/tap 3-4 round shooter and I stink w/ the Tar. -

pretty much, when i first got tar, i used it happily for a week and thought it was so great, then i got bored and stopped using it
one day i went back to it and felt it was horrible, and its been rotting in my storage since -
Like I said before, this gun performs better in maps with big open spaces (Metro, Power Plant, etc.) if you don't like sniping it's a good alternative. The SG and the AUG feature the same scoping style, so you might consider those guns too. I hate the AUG's slow-ass reloading time and looks and the SG's noise, but that's just me...

I absolutely hate the Tar. It doesn't fit my playing style at all (I'm an AK/M4 user). Plus, it's spray pattern is very random, and I don't favor that.
I got it when the M12s came out and just pwned with that SMG. Tried the Tar...mhmm, not so much. I eventually picked it up again later after some months and still don't like it. And now I really despise M12s users (I don't use it anymore either). -
The scope makes it the TAR worthwhile for me. It's so easy to scope in and blast someone in the face, or the body 3-4 times. But if you're too close to use the scope the gun isn't that great. I'd say it's better than the AUG at close range, but worse than the M4A1.
So yeah. It's good for med-long range shooting, and meh for close range shooting due to the awkward spray pattern. (It's fine if you burst though.) The TAR also makes an awesome sound. BAP BAP BAP BAP! >_> -

Tar-21 is a good gun to me.
