While LCMDUSNSF may have a valid point I can not confirm his claims to be valid.
If you have a problem with low disk space, removing unused files from your computer is a good way to get some of it back although usually not much.
Furthermore I have yet to ascertain that the CF client uses any kind of certificate to authenticate logins. Even if they did I'm not sure how that would be relevant to a forged file error. Possible? Yes. Probable? No.
Follow the methods on the following sticky to try to solve any crossfire problems you may have. http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=32
Prior to installing/reinstalling it would be a good idea to utilize ccleaner [see below for more details] to optimize your system for a fresh install. Run ccleaner AFTER you have uninstalled CF and follow the instructions listed on the aforementioned thread.
If you're looking for a more through way to delete unnecessary files from your system I suggest using ccleaner to do so. This software has been mentioned in the forums as a means of ensuring some rogue file isn't causing problems somewhere.

From the ccleaner website:
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!
---
As for future errors and problems; if you keep your PC healthy (and refrain from downloading hacks, unsafe code etc) it will generally work the way it is expected to. Keep in mind that new patches place a huge demand on the CF servers and that not every one can login, update their game and play all at the same time. Technology and the internet is extremely complicated and built from the hard work of individuals long before some of you were born and on a good day it usually works as intended.
On the days that it does not, go read a book and try to think what life was like before the advent of the personal computer and develop some patience.
