sweet, can't wait til they ship me windows 7. vista was cool but a bad reputation forced them to make a new OS. windows xp was much more unpredictable and unreliable than vista was. not to mention unorganized and ugly. people hate change.

Go with Windows 7, Windows Vista+ are considered 'modern' OSs like Ubuntu, openSuSE, Mac OS X. This is because they all have a very tight online repository managed by professional corporations and volunteers to ensure hardware and software compatibility.

I REALLY wanted to downgrade my laptop to XP from Vista (cause' it's SO <censored> slow), but in doing so, my audio drivers would not work (they 'forgot' the HD Audio drivers in XP SP3 and they can't be installed). I had tried Windows 7 RC, but it hadn't worked, this is all good news. Can't wait till CrossFire/GameGuard officially puts up support .

this isnt my laptop, its my moms
and no, vista users dont get a free upgrade unless they buy a new desktop/laptop in a specific time period.
