Solution on the FPS Spikes (Not going to 100% fix it)

Again, just want to make sure people know that this ISN'T 100% GOING TO FIX YOUR FPS SPIKES but rather give you a smoother Playing Experience.

Now sadly, I only own an Nvidia Graphics Card and I only know how to do this on Nvidia Graphic Cards. That shouldn't be a huge problem since this thread could probably put you to the right direction for the Hardware you're using but just for a short reference: Look for "How to cap FPS for any Game Hopefully this will give your way of doing it on your Hardware, just be careful and don't download just anything, your Graphics Card Manufacturer probably sorter the same as what Nvidia has.

The reason why I think this helps your Experience: Crossfire is an old game. It was meant to run on Weaker Hardware of that Era as well. Most Computers nowadays should be able to run Crossfire at Max everything (All Maps, Weapon Detail, etc) without issue and I'll go and say 99% of Computers/Laptops today that have the words "Gaming" as a selling point of that Computers/Laptops should be able to run this game at Low-High to whatever. The problem is, most of these PC's probably at such a high Frame Rate that you could be pushing the game way past its limits hence why you'll get FPS Spikes here and there. What I am going to go into is capping your FPS for Crossfire that you're not going to the extreme, this is why this isn't 100% going to fix your problem since still the game just has its own issues but this can be a little help to the Game and PC to be more connected as one..... Look, I am going, to be honest, I have no idea how to explain this since I barely know anything about PCs but I think this sorter made sense. Just understand that this could help your Experience (I'll be thankful if someone could just explain what I am explaining in a more PC/Smarter way in the Thread, ill even add it to this part of the post. Thanks).

If you run into any problems or have any questions, hit me up on Discord and I'll see if I can help: ( ithinkthatsmalachi#4648 )

(Disclaimer, if anything does go wrong I am in no way in fault of the problem. I am telling you directly what I've done. If you do not feel as if I am explaining it too well and you would want a more Detailed Structure, feel free to Google about Limiting your FPS and follow those guides. Again, everything being said was also done by me while writing this up so you don't need to feel as if this was only written without testing.)

Anyway, let's get into it.

Step 1: Get NVIDIA Profile Inspector

I don't think I am able to Link Downloads on the Forum but just Google "NVIDIA Profile Inspector" and you should find yourself the Download. If you aren't too sure on what site to Download it from then just Message me here or on Discord.

(Now, there is also NVIDIA Inspector which has the Profile Inspector inside of it and you would click an Icon to go between the two BUT if you update it to the newest Version that Icon is gone. The best way (and only way it seems) to get the Profile Inspector is to just download it since now it seems it's possible to be downloaded Separately. Again, I don't think I am allowed to Link the site with the Download of the Versions of NVIDIA Profile Inspector(s) BUT there's a site that talks about In-Game Frame Limiters and External Frame Limiters.. that'll lead you towards the Download. Also Again, if you are having trouble finding it, Message me on Discord

Step 2: Go to the Search Bar and Search for "Crossfir"

No, it's not a typo. It's just the Search Bar will pop up with Crossfire when you haven't spelt the whole Name into the Search Bar, once you've written "Crossfir" just click on "Crossfire"

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/r3ugmVa.png"}[/IMG2]

Once you've clicked on "Crossfire", you'll see that the Green Bar has the .exe files that's related to Crossfire so you are on the right track.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/9W2sTrL.png"}[/IMG2]

Step 3: Cap the Frame Rate to your liking.

You should now be on the Crossfire Profile on the Profile Inspector.

Go to the "Sync and Refresh" Tab which should be label as "2" and you'll see "Frame Rate Limiter"

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/d7W6Sey.png"}[/IMG2]

You'll see "0xB0C02000" is what it says for me, but i've also seen for some Games it just says "Off" so I don't know if this is a personal thing or differs between Games.

Either way, click on it (Whatever it says next to "Frame Rate Limiter"), you'll get a drop down menu button so just click on it (If you got 0xB0C02000 you'll see that if you go up you'll see "Off" so again I don't know if this is different for each Game or just a personal thing.)

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/gBPCztR.png"}[/IMG2]

Now this is where I say it's all personal preference. My Monitor doesn't support 120hz so it's 60hz. I would just explain how to find this Information out but this YouTube video explains it quicker than whatever I write.

(Hopefully that works since the Preview isn't working)

Since I have a 60hz, I might as well limit the Frame Rate to 60 but I could go higher if I wanted too since I do achieve higher FPS but it wouldn't personally be noticeable.

Once you've chosen your choice, click on "Apply Changes" which should appear at the Top Right

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/12xYF7H.png"}[/IMG2]

Now the Option shouldn't look as fainted as the others and be in Black. (Pretty much like the same way this post looks text wise.)

Step 4: Go In-Game and see if your FPS has capped itself.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/bqSXlrf.png"}[/IMG2]

I tried 2 Games (Didn't want to put myself into a long Match so it was just TDM and FFA and their weren't so many of those at the time.) and I can say that my FPS was Capped at 60 with me having little dips which were noticeable since i'll be going to the 50s. This usually occurred when picking up games (One of the reasons why I feel like this the spikes are coming from the new content being constantly added on an old Engine but that's another point). I would usually get 250+ FPS

It would be better for me to Limit my FPS at 120 even though I wouldn't see it, when it would dip it wouldn't go below 60 FPS if you feel me.

I do like to play FPS Games at low Resolution stretched (1024x... I forgot the other numbers) since I feel more comfortable with my Aiming but I did this test at 1080p and yes it worked. Again it won't completely fix the issue but it can control it a bit to give you a better Gaming Experience so please keep that in mind.

Now I bet someone will probably ask if this will get you Ban. I do not know. As you see I have done it and I was fine so you should be completely doing this and you can go and ask your Local GM just to make sure everything is allowed but it should since it's all hardware control, nothing to do with affecting other people.

But yes this should help you enough and again if you are not sure on something, don't be shy and ask me on Discord or here!
Still the worst forumer of 2017
