How I fixed "Disconnected from server" Error

For many days I was getting the dreaded Disconnected from server error after entering a game room, even though I was still connected and could see and hear other players moving and shooting. I even got shot and killed while standing in the room with the error message on my screen with the only choice to click OK and exit the game. Nobody seemed to have an answer to the problem. I uninstalled Crossfire with Revo uninstaller to try to make sure it was totally gone, and reinstalled, but still had the problem. THEN I found the Crossfire directory in my documents folder that did not get deleted with the uninstall. The Documents\Crossfire folder had years and years of screenshots! Over 6,000 screenshots and other files. I copied them to another drive and deleted them and Crossfire has been working great since. So if you are having the disconnected from server error when you enter a game room, go find that folder and see if you have accumulated a ton of screen shots and move them somewhere else or delete them. cfb
