You must first add the CrossFire folder in exceptions or exclusions on all available antivirus on your PC. Even in Windows Defender.
Advanced method:
Open the file named "version.ini" located by default under C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games\CrossFire.
Currently it is:[VERSION]
LatestVersion = 1364
MinimalVersion= 1164
OwnVersion = 21
[DOWNLOAD]
server1 = http://cfpatch.z8games.com/download/
[SERVER]
COUNT = 1
IP1 =67.210.208.31
PORT1 =13008
[HGW]
PORT=16666
SERVER1=67.210.208.32
Now modify "LatestVersion" to a previous one. >>> LatestVersion = 1364. From 1364 to 1363. And save. If you can't save the file, then save it to your desktop, copy it, and overwriting the previous one (copy and paste into the game folder).
Why?
By modifying this, that way, we are forcing the game to download the previous update or updates, depending on the version configured by us. I.e., It can download the files missing from the patcher_cf.exe and backup folder, so it can function as it should.
Why don't old files work? Because they have a different hash code.

can you upload LTMsg.dll and BugTrap.dll please

Unfortunately, we can't share files in the forum. It's not allowed. You need to reinstall the game. If you can't delete the game, try deleting the entire folder manually (delete all files and folders from CF) under C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games.
If you have a strict antivirus profile, put the CrossFire folder in exclusions or exceptions from your antivirus, in-case it deletes anything when you install/update it.I can't send you a private message. Click hereUnrar that file, after copy and paste these files in the CF Folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games\CrossFire and replace. Updated 07-17-20, 10:10 AM GMT -5
By Kanadian:No, that's a very bad idea to take files from other people, since they can have viruses/malware/edits that can get you banned.
By Bunni:Generally it's not allowed to upload and share game files as no one can guarantee they haven't been tampered with. -
