Report Reward

I know it is hard to stop hacking for 100%, but I guess more people would take the effort of reporting, if there is at least a small reward that is worth reporting.

Comments

  • Most likely this wont ever happen, because people can just pick a random replay with no one cheating and just report to get that reward, hence this won't ever happen
  • Theres this city, and its having a problem with rats, right? And so the mayor says "For every rat tail you bring me, I will give you 3 gold pieces". For a short time it fixes their rat problem, and then all of a sudden they have a worse rat problem than before. Many people are bringing in more rat tails than ever before, and when they investigate where all the rats are coming from? People are breeding rats just to get the rewards.
  • My suggestion: Fingerman Ribbon. Get this ribbon with 100 reports resulting in banning
  • ~uwu~ and Surly both make good points in this regard, but I'd also like to add:

We get quite a few replays that are either misreports (people who are just playing better than them) or just don't have adequate enough information and make reviewing the replay difficult (putting "EVERYONE IS A HACKER" as a reported player). Regardless, we still have to review these types of replays because there's no indication that it's a misreport. Especially if there's no time stamp, we often spend quite some time re-watching replays to figure out just when (or if) the person in reported was hacking.

Adding an incentive to the reward may result in us receiving replays where people send them thinking "Well, they MIGHT be hacking, and I might get lucky, so what do I have to lose?" resulting in a lot of misreports / false reports for us.

    Basically:

Appreciate the suggestion, however it could potentially do more harm than good.

That's why you do CS:GO's overwatch system, someone might think the person is cheating, but if multiple people are watching the replay and come to the conclusion they are cheating, then it's more conclusive. Randomize replays given to players, randomize names in the replays, and when a replay gets enough reports within a threshold then it goes to the top of the GMs list of replays to check out. Then and only then, reward them with a temporary item like Muzzle Flash or Color Name/Chat etc. when the GMs confirm that they were in fact a cheater. You can also add in a spam filter if the replay watcher does less than X amount of seconds of viewing compared to the other replay watchers did for that replay, then it's just spam. Make the rewards useful but not long, but then again, all this takes time and effort. Wishful thinking.
  • If you are in a room to record and report a hacker, It's you who will get banned. They see the replay and ban all who are in the room. Farming with a hacker they say. So I won't bother to report them anymore.

If you are in a passworded room, benefitting from someone hacking, and you don't report them, then yes you are subject to a temporary ban.

It was not a PW room. it was a room for all and I was recording the hacker for a report and I was banned for it for 15 days. I never said it was a pw room. You just made that up.

It happened in Saigon (now Ho-Chi-Min City) during the war (Or Seoul, during the Korean-War). They offered money to the locals for Rat-Tails. They were not only letting the rats go after cutting their tails off, but as you said, they started breeding them. It was in a History-Magazine not long ago here in Sweden. But a thing like this, probably happened several times before that too. I know that during the Black-Death people would get money for killing rats, too bad it was the fleas on the rats that spread the disease.

As for the suggestion, it's too easily abused. Secondly do you really need a reward for doing the right thing?
It's kind of the same thing that baffles me in religions. Be good or go to hell, be good and you go to heaven. If you need the threat of punishment to be good, are you really that good of a person?

  • HAHAHAHAHA GMs can barely keep up with live reports... I still have tickets from YEARS ago that haven't been opened. The incentive shouldn't be on people to report, it should be on the few GMs to actually review the reports.
  • This is unacceptable, of course, everyone will try to randomly inform anyone they see well
