Attention CF Community

I would like to announce the start of CPL weekly 5vs5 S&D tournament. Teams from every region are allowed to participate (NA, EU, RU, LATAM, MENA). The format for this weekly tournament will be double-elimination. CPL will be hosted every Sunday @ 16:00 PM London, UK. Please read below for more information.

i dont get why ppl are playing this tournament like the game isn't even bothering to put a small prize for the winners which shows that they clearly don't care about the players that play, game is pretty much dead and CFS is over so whats the point of this. but gotta give it to the guy thats running this tournament at least hes running it better than CFS(which didn't even bother streaming any matches and didn't even have a anti-cheat for players to use)

Thanks, I am trying to do my best because there are clearly many teams that are actually active and enjoy the cup whether there is a prize or not.
I have not asked the GMs for any ZP prize as of yet since I want to host several cups (4-5) with some decent attendance first, to show to them that this is something worth considering sponsoring.

In general I don’t think they would mind sponsoring since it is very little extra work for them because I’m running the whole thing anyway(sign ups, brackets etc.).
Besides they have done it in the past with EGL and Ramill.

If there is anything that is going to help CPL at this point is greater attendance, especially by NA teams (I know the time difference might not be helping but last week we had an NA team that played the cup and they actually did very good).

There is also a great hidden issue with sponsoring CPL, and that is the increased incentive to cheat that comes along with a prize.
In other words we are going to need a better anti-cheat (blackbox), which is not free, in order to compensate for the added cheating risk.
I remember very well how the situation deteriorated back in the day with EGL when we had a prize (ZP) without a proper anti-cheat.
So between no prize and prize without good anti-cheat I would always choose no prize.

Keep in mind that in general players who enjoy the game will stick around and be active regardless of whether there is a prize or not while players who don't really care/don't like the game anymore will always find excuses and cry unless the prince of Qatar himself sponsors CPL with $$$$.

There have been at least 5-10 players who have literally won 0 $/ZP in prizes from CF ever that told me that they will not participate unless there is a money/ZP prize, go figure.... ROFL.

On a side note I would like to point out especially to the GMs that the “entry-level” competitive cup ALWAYS needs to be a weekly cup and not a monthly one like CFCL open. There are many good reasons for this which I can keep listing forever but I’m gonna stop here.
