Why do threads have an option to like?

Do you even know how to like a thread?

I have been through the first 13 pages of threads here and not one has a like.

Can anyone like this thread so I can see like...

I think there was once the intention to add a option to like threads/users and by that gaining reputation on this forum. I however think it's not fully implemented and thereby of no use.
