How to get ZM3 special boxes?

So... I am curious. Is there a reliable way to always get all the boxes?
I heard about extra missions. Why don't they appear all the time? Is it random? Is there a specific difficulty I need to play on to get all the missions?
Also the Atlas mission I get occasionally: "Shoot his mouth for 20% more damage" How to finish it? Well, I try to shoot Atlas' mouth, but how many times to I need to do it to get the mission done?
Basically, is there a guide on how to do a perfect run for the permanent stuff in ZM3?

  • The special reward is only available in Nightmare difficulty and it gives you a chance for a AWM Marlin permanent.

To get this special reward, you need to kill Longbil winthin 5 mins, when you do so Longbil's brothers will come to revenge his brother. You then kill his brother and you get the special reward. I got my AWM Merlin after opening around 40 boxes.
  • You get all the boxes if you make sure your bases remain their full energy level (blue bar) after each round ends. You can get a better change to win permanent stuff if you're the one who takes the most damage during a round.
To play the extra missions, you must be playing on either Expert or Nightmare level.
A red ball appears in the monsters' mouth if your team takes off good damage from him right at the beggining. Once this happens, all you and your team must do is to keep shooting for the weak spot, effectively.
To make a very decent run in ZM3 games, you must play togheter, with ZM weapons, but most important, with your character attributes improved for that specific map (I'm not sure about the best attributes for each map, otherwise I'd say it).
    Hope this helped a bit.

Not true, you can get both blue-S boxes and the green S-Box in Expert too, it depends on points for the blue in the Canyon Map. For the tower map you get atleast one Blue if you manage hard, as you get blue-S there for the last 3 bosses that you can fight. That map don't give out green boxes, but it has a bonus round that works like it.

  • As for attributes, i go for full health (To survive Atlas easier) Full damage to human, bio and mech. Full General Damage. Then spend the rest on crits. Some prefer to skip health and go for more crits instead, but i like having the extra health.

I only use the the Drone or less often Missile as defence in the Canyon map. In the tower i use only Drone. If you can afford to get it, it's worth investing in Gold Drone and Infinite ammo/reload, if you are going to grind the maps.

As for weapons, P90-FW for Canyon (AA-12 Buster works well too) and AA-12-Buster for Tower (P-90-FW works well too) I reason those choices because P90 is a little better at distance than the AA. If you don't yet have those weapons, use a Machine Gun of your choice or a fast shotgun.

Use any damage reducing gear you have gotten from ZM 1-3

Tips for the Canyon map. Nightmare or Expert (For fast farming of boxes) (worked for my 400+ games atleast)
1.Don't jump over to the other side, it's better if you and your team stand and spray at the edge, the enemies will jump over to your side when you hit them. It easier to die if you spread out. (If one of you is a healer, it works even better)
    2. For the enemies with shields, shoot their feet, otherwise shoot heads. The first stage is easy, just kill everything and protect the generators on both sides, without jumping over to the otherside.
3.Middle stage shoot your enemies until you can make your way down to the middle area with the reload boxes, stand behind them for more safety. In this stage, rocket launcher or grenade launcher works very good, as the map is narrow, place it facing down to the middle area from start, if you are using one.
    4. First sniper boss, can be hard. keep your distance and fire at him, when you can. If he targets you with the laser-sight, hide behind something. If he starts walking to the generator, keep shooting his head and you might manage to stop him from planting a bomb. But if he does, disarm it (very important). Kill him within the time limit and you get to fight the bonus bosses.
    5. The bonus bosses are easier as they have less health and don't plant bombs. For the blue one, same strategy as for the last boss. For the yellow one, hide behind stuff and shoot him in the back of his head, don't let him get close. If one of them throws up a shield, target the other, repeat and both will die fast and easy.
    6. The last stage (Atlas or Uranus) is easy if you know what you are doing. Here the extra health comes in. Don't let him chase you stay and kill the smaller enemies, so you don't take damage from them. See to that you have 140 HP and let him blast you with fire (You should survive). Now shoot him and don't jump over until he has blasted that side, keep doing that until you get to final area (When you can target the orange point on his chin until that objective turns orange, yes it exist in expert too, but don't show up until you finish it). Jump from the diffrent platforms left-middle-right to escape his attacks. Orange fire - he targets one area. Green fire - he targets two. It's easy to escape and shoot. Other attacks doesn't matter, even easier to escape. If he starts charging a blue ball in his mouth, stand in the blue-lit area behind the cannons, until he blast everything. You can use the cannons, but i never do. With a fairly good team, you should finish Nightmare around 10 min.

If you get damage bug, so that everything takes super damage, just be happy, it happens sometimes.

I'm not an expert in ZM. Thanks for the info.

By the way, which level of difficulty should I do to get persona blade in deadly tower?

I'm not sure, i haven't gotten it myself, I didn't play that map much, as it was easier to grind Canyon. But i think Expert or Nightmare. You could always make a tower game in an empty channel and check tab which displays which item's you can get for each box.

To my knowledge you can obtain the Persona Blade from the last Boss box in Deadly Tower. So you'd have to play the difficulty in which the last boss exists ( think that's either Expert or Nightmare).
  • Is there a way to get EXP and levels quite fast? Normal which I can do solo gives me... 60 EXP it seems.

I'll probably try expert and see what happens. i did nightmare level many times and never got it, also used up many revival tokens for this level of difficulty.

I think Nightmare Deadly tower is the hardest ZM map you can imagine. I hardly die once in Fatal canyon but I always have to use around 5 tokens for this stupid deadly tower; all of the 3 bosses here are a lot tougher than Atlas; absolute imbalance between the 2 maps. Even the small minions in deadly tower are tougher than minions in fatal canyon, the "dodging wolves", the "charging red goriilla" etc, all of them are tough af and there are so many of them chasing you in such a small space.

Yeah, i agree. I think the tower map was made to eat up revival tokens. You die alot even with a gold drone.

You get more XP and level XP if you play with those of lower level than yourself. Also you get more XP and Levels with more players in your team, so play with a full team and of course, you\ll get more of both if you play at a harder difficulty.

I don't agree, just be sure to distance yourself properly from Persona. The player he targets is often the one close by. Other than that you just need to keep checking what move he's going to make next.

off topic: Quick tip I got from a MOD, don't double post. You can multi quote by pressing "quote" on the post you like to and than pressing "Post reply" in the top left corner.

I have to remember that tip, i was irritated because i couldn't make multi quotes when i tried before, after seeing others doing it. thanks.
(They really should have multi-quote button)

I always have bad luck with Persona and die even if i try to keep my distance, some day i'm gonna grind tower until i get the blade, but i don't like that map very much, i wish they could make some new maps for ZM3.

Yeah, an Avatar as an Avatar.:D

The worst thing in that map are the ice wolves. They move faster than you, have a lot of HP for squishy DDs on everything above normal and have an AoE which you cannot escape if the whole team doesn't focus on them.
And 90% of the time the team is bad.
Yesterday I had a team of 5 in Canyon expert. We almost failed the Brothers cause I was the only one who even thought about shooting the blue one. They all spammed Chainsaws at the yellow brother with a shield and did 0 damage.

Best advice I could give is joining a ZM specialized clan or group so you can form efficient teams.

I always do nightmare, never tried expert in either maps and I got my AWM marlin after around 36 nightmare clears on Fatal canyon. I do nightmare fatal many more times after that just for fun (with no sound but music on background) and I often don't die there. And I often don't care about how good my team is, as long as they are level 10+; can take damage or distract minions or bosses then I'm fine with it.

Recently I decided to get persona blade and have done nightmare tower around 50 times already but no persona balde received yet. Every time I play this mode some of my revival tokens get stolen away from me, there is no good method of countering the last 3 bossess. It doesn't matter if your team is good or bad, you always die and your team as well. No wonder not many people do this map

I did Tower once and got my permanent Persona Blade. It is bad. The right swing is way too slow. But it is a 2HK with a slash.
Do you care to play sometimes and grind for stuff?

Thanks for the offer but I usually only play ZM when I'm bored of PVP, so I might not be available when you want to play and vice versa.

If you are a fan of AWM then I advice you get the Marlin version as soon as possible. It's better than all ZP versions due to 3 reasons below:

    1) It has all benefit of ZP guns such as extra bullets and faster bolt-cycling.
    2) It looks better than all ZP verions
    3) It doesn't require repair.

I think only AWM vips are better than this marlin one. But the marlin is completely free.

Well, we all know VVIP is pure pay2win. And we know Chinese game devs of CF do all the shiny guns and anime skins cause Asian playerbase rather buys them.
But I am surprised they evolved and you can get so much actually good stuff permanently for free.
