Hunger Strike
Two years ago, I started my filmmaking career with what is well regarded by some as the greatest video of all time. I decided to submit my video to the Crossfire Film Festival not just for the DSR-1 rusty that I wanted as a reward for winning the competition but also because I wanted to gift a video to the world that would benefit all of mankind. I knew that a video this good was guaranteed to win in a fair competition but unfortunately, the film festival was rigged. I never did win the competition or receive the reward that I deserve. More importantly, that loss marked the tragic end to my longstanding career in the field of filmmaking. When I lost the film festival, that wasn’t all I lost. I also lost the drive and ambition that I once had. I lost the joy that used to come from creating videos, and I lost ability to create beautiful works of art.
Thing is, Martin Luther King didn’t die so that people of color… people like me wouldn’t be judged fairly based off of the content of their Crossfire Film Festival video submissions. I realized that this was perhaps the greatest injustice anyone has ever suffered, and I knew I had to speak out, so I spent the next few days exhaustively compiling all the evidence I had of the film festival being rigged and I typed it up in this forum post here: https://forum.z8games.com/forum/crossfire/crossfire-barracks/336339-film-festival.
While the forum post did start to gain some traction and generate meaningful discussion about the injustices perpetuated by Z8Games, the thread was locked on the same day and as a result, discussion regarding the film festival was censored. To be clear, censorship refers to: “the suppression of speech, public communication, or other information, on the basis that such material is considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or 'inconvenient'” As it was very clear that the discussion was being suppressed, I stand by my statement earlier that I was being censored. I wasn’t going to let that stop me so I created another post detailing the censorship I was suffering from: https://forum.z8games.com/forum/crossfire/crossfire-barracks/336386-censorship-in-this-game. While I did finally receive an “apology” from a mod, that post was also censored. I realized that what I was doing wasn’t working and as much as it bothered me, I felt that there wasn't much more I could do. As much as it pained me to do it, I decided to take a break from the posts I was making and do my best to try and move on with my life.
You know what though? It’s fine. It’s not like I’ve been sitting up every night wondering how a respected company like Z8Games – a company known for its integrity and dedication to its players could have rigged such an important film festival. It wasn’t like I was checking my storage every single day for the PAST TWO YEARS wondering where my DSR-1 rusty was. It wasn’t like it was the only thing keeping me up every night when all I wanted was just a moment of peace from the nightmare that was every waking moment of my life. It’s really not a big deal and honestly, it’s perfectly fine. ACTUALLY, NO IT’S NOT FINE! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!? I TRUSTED YOU GUYS, POURED MY HEART AND SOUL INTO THE GREATEST WORK OF ART THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN AND THIS IS HOW Z8 DECIDES TO TREAT ME?!
I had people tell me not to post this – tell me that it’s not a big deal, that I should let it all go and just “get over it”. Thing is, I just can’t do that. There’s a word for what doing that is and it’s called APPEASEMENT. If I let a company like Z8Games get away today with rigging film festivals and censoring player discussions, next thing you know they’ll be taking over Poland, marching across Europe, and perpetrating the largest mass genocide in modern history. I cannot in good conscience stand idly by and let that happen because the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Therefore, I have no option other than to go on a hunger strike until I get the DSR-1 rusty that I deserve. Starting at 3:48 AM today, I am not eating anything ever between the hours of 3:48 AM and 4:00 AM until I see the DSR-1 Rusty in my storage. The ball’s in your court Z8Games. Do the right thing.

This contest was not rigged and any video that wasn't picked simply didn't fit the criteria as well as the ones picked did. I'll be sure to have a late night snack in your honour, and wish you good luck with your uphill battle. Unfortunately, I'm going to close this one due to likening us to a certain historical event, which is a no-go. Entertaining post though, I must admit!
