The thread was probably posted earlier in the GM's/Admin only forum and opened to everyone upon Friday, considering all replies are from that Friday.

^^ This just about all announcement posts on the forums are made in advance and hidden in a section only the GMs can see. They are moved into the player visible area when the event details are finalized and the event is either starting or about to start so the thread creation date on the announcement posts will be earlier than when the post becomes visible to us. Consequently this is why announcement posts also tend to not work a lot of the time as the forums itself has a cache/cookie problem and it causes the announcement threads to show but not register as being moved into public display yet. So you click on them and it either gives you an error as it recognizes they should be moved but isn't....or it gets completely messed up and sends you to the forums home.

Now the usually do reveal the weekend event posts on the 1st Friday when the event starts as well.
