  • In an effort to help streamline the process for you guys we're going to rewrite the steps it takes to report a proper hacker.

I'll try to outline the reasons for doing so as well as a quick checklist of the do's and don't of hack reporting.

Please report via Forum Private Message Only. Please do not publicly post hackusations. Posts discussing potentially hacking players or hack sites etc will be closed and/or removed.

    Things to Report to [CF]Reports

    Hackers
Bug Exploitation (map glitches, bomb plants etc.)
    Scamming/Harassment/Excessive Language

    Things to Report to [GM]Saidin

    Game Issues
Bug Exploits (map glitches and glitchers)
    Scamming/Harassment/Language issues
    Game Questions
Any Non Hacking issue or report
Anything else that may require a Cross Fire GM

    Things to Report to [CM]FallenAngel

    Inappopriate IGN
    GM/Mod Impersonation
    Scamming/Harassment/Excessive Language

When reporting a hacker there a small list of things you need to remember with a brief explanation of why underneath.

    1. Have the Replay and upload it to a non rapidshare website.
(megaupload and mediafire are the best)

We must have a replay in order to fully prove and justify the ban. This is company policy, no exceptions. We have login's for some download sites, but not rapidshare. It's the worst of all upload/download sites. Please avoid using it if you can! Make sure to include the URL of the file in your PM. If you are linking to a mediafire directory make sure to include the name of the file that I am supposed to be downloading.

    2. Include the exact In-Game-Name of the hacker in the PM

Knowing exactly who is hacking when you report makes it easy for us both for reference and for the system. We can cut-paste the name and search their details. As well as having the exact game means that when we review a replay we can know exactly who to look for and get them banned faster.

    3. Have a Screenshot of the player list

A screenshot of the player list verifies that you were in the game with the hacker. It also helps to verify the spelling of a name. There are thousands of people playing the game and a lot of people have similar names. So confirming the difference between _ and __ etc. helps us even more.

Screenshots are not mandatory. But we do like it when there is one included of the player list. Also screenshots of a player in the replay isn't really needed either. We see all that when we look at the replay.

And that's it. This should be the minimum amount of effort put in to submitting a report that can get checked quickly and referenced and taken care of. The following are things that can help us speed up the process even more!

Some things that would REALLY help us speed up the process.

    1. Rename the replay file

All replays are labeled CF[DATE]_0000.cfr so if everyone is saving the replay they all have exactly the same name. If we ever need to reference or review the case it becomes difficult to know which replay belongs to which report. So we ask for a bit of help from you guys to rename the file to some sort of approximate name of the hacker. We say approximate because windows file names can't have some characters (* for example).

    2. Don't use rapidshare

Almost every upload site is fast except RS. We have internal accounts for Megaupload, and Mediafire is always fast. Rapidshare is almost always busy and slow and hard to download from. It's a bad site and shouldn't be used. It increases the time it takes to handle a report ten fold.

    3. Replay or Game Details

If you know when or where or what type of hack the player is using please include that information. It allows us to quickly check what hack they are using against our known methods. But it also shows that you are paying attention. Because we get a lot of reports, we have to try to eliminate the ones that aren't legit reports as quickly as possible. Despite everyone thinking they are reporting hackers there's probably up to 10-20% of them that are never legit. That means the ENTIRE PROCESS slows down because of the people who are only reporting on a hunch. Confirm the details and your report will likely be read and handled a lot faster.

    4. Multiple Reports can be included in one PM

If you have 3 hack reports there are multiple ways to be efficient about it. You can upload the 3 individual files and then send me one PM with the 3 IGN's and the 3 links to download. Or you can zip up the files (make sure to name the zip file something logical, player names are fine too) and then include a link to the one zip file in one PM with the 3 IGN's of the hackers.

The point being ONE pm can contain more than one link and more than one IGN.

    5. Mods can not issue bans.

    6. The support site can also be used to submit hack reports.

    Hack Reporting Discussion

Don't forget you can potentially still save those replays if the room crashes or you get kicked. Don't exit the game, find the *.rtp file in your CF directory and rename that to a *.cfr file. It should work most of the time. Please see this thread for further details.

Reporting players is not a very difficult process. It shouldn't take much more than a few minutes. We know it is still not the most ideal system, but if you keep things simple, straight forward and concise then your report can quickly be looked at and handled in a timely fashion.

Also please note, some bans do not show up on the ban list. Depending on the type of ban, or if there is an open investigation, or if it is an account issue your name or a character you report may or may not be on the list. Sitting around and refreshing the ban list is only going to make you more upset. Just submit the report and trust that we'll get to it.

Lastly I try to get at least a canned answer to all hack reports. Even if it's a simple thanks. What this means is that I've received the report. It's details have been catalogued and it is in the queue to be looked at. Most of the time I have time to type an answer. Some times I don't. Please don't expect a reply from me, I do my best to get as many replies out as I can.

We also can not confirm at that time whether or not we will be issuing a ban. If your guy was hacking the character will get banned. But I don't have much time to sit down with everyone who reports hackers and explain to them the exact details of our verdict. Not to mention our company policy allows me to just make the judgment call and not have to explain myself.

We try to get to as many questions and answers about hacking and reporting as I can. But constantly asking me "Is this guy banned" is just slowing down the overall process. If you get a reply "Thanks" then you know we will get to your report.
  • it sure was u that sucked so badly that u rage quitted and thought he was hacking -.-
