Guide not to be a noob
After playing pub TDM quite some times, I decide to write something to help some player out. I will not say how to be a pro because I am not. I will only list the top ten behavior that makes me think "he is a noob".
Here is then in the descending order:
1. Hacking:
-- Ugly personality
If you want to hack, think twice. A reasonable logic is that when people really can not do something properly, they try to do it unfairly. So hackers are always losers, at least in most other players' eyes. A perfect score like 150:0 will not gain you any respect.
On the other hand, think about what kind of fun you get when hacking ---- when the game becomes a mouse clicking practice, why not just click it in a flash game? If the number really make you happy, try to hack the number please ---- that will be direct and challenge.
More seriously, hacking is related to personality problem in many's opinion. Don't try to blemish yourself. Remember, "once hacking, always hacker".
You have another chance in the game to change another account, but remember, to blemish it just need a game, while it takes almost similar time to create it.
2. Glitching:
-- Brainless
If you are a tester, do it in your private game. Most of glitcher are not creative -- they are not the one who found it. While you were trying to get into the box, you are already titled "noob" by other players. And it has the similar effect as hacker -- players are classified as either legit or not legit. Even though you think it is unfair to be treated as hacking, the fact is different -- you will get kicked for same reason.
3. Complain others hacking without enough evidence
-- Childish
I am not sure if the word should be hackuster. It is funny to see people swear others hacking -- Swear can neither stop hacking, nor have an effect on a non-hacker. It does just expose your embarrassment. I remember someone typed so many "ghost hack", "ghost bot", but I was just too busy to have my finger moving away from mouse, and I am so lazy to type something for them. But I say, "Noob!" because they have never played with any real hackers, or something like 23:5 is an impossible score for them. I would not even bother him after he shoot me in head ---- his brain will not work out the logic behind.
4. Head down for guns
-- totally have no idea on what is FPS
A familiar weapon is more lethal in your hand than a new one. Unless your run out of ammo, or you carries wrong one (say, a sniper rifle when your base is ****d), or there is something you are more familiar with, use your weapon. When you really need that weapon on the ground, remember be alert to the enemies, do it quickly. Looking down on the ground is very stupid, you put yourself out of defensive status. I saw so many players killed when they are comparing guns, some of them spend like 10 seconds there comparison ---- hey, no matter which gun is there, you need aim and shoot!
5. Gather together
-- believe popular is good?
I play a lot of castle, and sometimes it got so funny to see so many gather together in one small place for defense. If the opponents are really so strong that we can not push up, it is ok. But most of time, players rushed and get killed, they lost valor or they saw enemy cames from one place just now, so everyone aimed at one place. Result? Enemies came from another door from their back, nade efficiently send them to base, and enemy just simply sprays to kill.
What should you do? As the game says, crossfire. To cross your fire, you need to stay at different location, create a coverage on different area, or create a cover from different direction. Imagine you are running up roof in castle map, you might feel happy when all the enemies are rush out from one side, while you will be very unlucky when they come out from both side and return fire, even worse, when there are some enemy appears in the window. For legit player, to change their focus direction needs time and might cause loss of accuracy.
6. Run with scope open
-- Too detail oriented and lack of overview
When I saw slow runner, there is always one word rush into my brain -- "noob". The scope is normally not accurate during moving, and you will have less field of view -- you might get killed without even seeing them.
Someone suggest running with knife or nade. I would say depends. If there are 2 more team mates running in front of you with guns, you can. But if you are the front line, carry your swift weapon, pistol if you are sniper. About 1/2 of my death is because I put myself into a status can not fire back, mostly during running with my nade. Even you managed to change the weapon, you can not fire it right away.
7. Abuse smoke or flash
-- Never see something like that before?
Smoke is used to hide. When both side can not see clearly, more enemies mean more target, you can easily hurt someone by just tags. Unless there is only one entrance, more guns have no benefit when they can not find target.
Flash in a teammate condensed area is very stupid. Even though the teammate flash seems take shorter to recover, to let many teammates out of functionality will never be a nice idea, unless you purposely doing this. I this case, you might not be considered as "noob" any more, but "a*shole" instead.
8. Long range spray with assult rifle
-- Too nervous or excited
Most of assult rifle lose accuracy after 3-5 bullets. The default weapon lose accuracy after 1st shoot in about 30-50 meter range. Therefore, always try to headshot with first bullet, except in a face to face encounter, in which the first one who land the bullet on the other side might get benefit.
9. Long time camping without checking around
-- Expect miracles happens every day
If someone sit there for a long term without moving, he might be a noob if he is not passed over on his computer.
Similar thing for the camper that always tries to shoot enemy from behind. They will hold a very narrow field of view, and will let enemy kill run past them and shoot several teammate before they can see the enemy and shoot from behind.
Shooting from behind need strategy and stealth. Camping can only do it once or twice. A smart player should always change position, take advantage that opponent will check the place where you previously hide.
Use the earphone and be careful about the sound of steps when you are camping.
10. Ignore the nearest path
-- Unconfident or no idea of team work
Some player never tries to control the path near to them. Instead, they like to go to guard the place where there are several teammates already doing so, even though the nearest path is totally unprotect. Anyway, this is very noob behavior. They are either unconfident, or lack of common sense.
11. Blocking
-- Get away
Either block teammates to pass through or block sights. You put the teams as an easy target that can be shot without moving mouse.
