DEXUS' GUIDE: Clan League Check List
Far too often a worthy clan doesn't ever make it to the leagues, and disappointment follows. The problem comes from the simple idea of ---> Are we ready?
Things you must have
1. OBVIOUSLY no cheaters. Make sure you have thoroughly screened your players to the extent that you are 100% confident in their true abilities.
2. Punctuality - If you are late or miss the match, you forfeit.
3. Good sportsmanship - You will win some, you will lose some. Don't be a d*** about it either way.
The Checklist
Make the choice to move forward and try a league out. Don't be held back by the notion that you are unprepared.
1. Voice communication - Do you have it? Make sure to have some sort of voice software to be able to talk between your team mates.
2. When you select the League you want to play in, make sure you learn EVERYTHING you can about the rules and requirement for it.
3. Establish a small, core group who will recruit and build and develop the League team.
4. Maintain a roster of clan members/recruits who want to be on the team (Back-ups and Starter replacements)
5. Develop a training system for your League team. Practice makes perfect! Experience with one another is what counts. You can't play with a team of players you don't know. Get to know each other. Know your strengths and weaknesses, so that you can compliment one another in a game.
REMEMBER: You will lose some. No amount of preparation will change that, you must learn the league and your competition. Only then, will you be better equipped to battle your opponents.
Improvement Ideas
1. You need a central team to run the group, with additional members ready to play as well. This allows for stability and ensures each time the team takes the field they have experienced members ready to play.
2. Your team should be consist of the members who have the most open schedules and are capable of satisfying attendance and training requirements. Skill amounts for nothing if the players can't make the matches.
3. Develop your strategies. Get a playbook or write them down and work the map with a plan. Proper execution is the key to winning. If you know your map and the plan, it comes down to who can execute their plan better.
4. Don’t go to the match expecting to lose, keep up a good attitude and remember your tactics. However, learn how to lose. Don’t let losses discourage you from getting better. Record your matches and play them back to see what went wrong and adjust your practices to work better.
5. HAVE FUN. You MUST enjoy this experience, win or lose. If your league team isn’t having fun, then no one is going to be happy about it. Make sure everyone understands the point is to have fun on the big stage!
I'm sure I have missed ideas that others could probably contribute. But this is a great starting point to go by if you are considering going into League play. Take it to heart. Make sure your team is a tight knit group that knows and understands each others strengths and weaknesses. You can only win as a team and lose as a team. It isn't about the players. A team with flawless teamwork will beat out a team of skilled players with no team work any day. Enjoy.
