I have the same problem. I've uninstalled the old version of CrossFire and have never used hacks. I downloaded via torrent, installed the recent version and the game patches ok yet for some reason I get to 1% (splashscreen, game starts to load and verify files) and then I see the error - "file was changed or forged. game will be shut down by force".

Is there a specific resolution to this error or are the few that are affected by this error out of luck for the time being?

Is this still due to 'server load' ... well over 12 hours after the patch was released?

For some reason I think I'll need to wait until the most recent version 1028 is released as a setup executable and - again - download to have a functioning program.

One of the suggested fixes was to install to another location. I installed to a different drive and this had no effect whats so ever. The game still fails at 1%.

Haha, this is same for me since the last update. Glad that has people got problem like me! LOL! It says like CF watcher: File was changed or forged. Game will be shut down by force! Is it right?

If it were just like the last time i had, you would need to download CF again with patch 1028 (the patch which we just updated) though i have no idea when Z8 will put this patch on website for downloading.
Last time we updated from patch 1021 upto 1027, so i downloaded 1027 again and installed. I could play. Now i got the problem again. Thus, I hope this will help you guys. Be patient for patch 1028 being put on website for downloading.

i have the same problem ...... after the last patch the game was working fine, i was playing then an error comes up and the game crashes then i tried 2 load the game again i had this problem, kept trying and the game started working again i went 2 sleep woke up today with same problem again:S its really annoying im gonna lose all my zp stuff

According to a rather obnoxious spammer on Cross Fire's Facebook page, this is not the first time this has happened. The problem seems to be caused by a Windows registry entry.

After reading it, I recommend the following changes:
1. Uninstall Cross Fire FPS Client
2. Download latest client (not the downloader, the complete installer)
3. Use regedit to search for GameGuard or Cross Fire registry entries or just use CCleaner as suggested in the post
4. Re-install from complete client installer

A number of forum posts from other sites regarding the Chinese Cross Fire also popped up in Google, since I was suppose to sleep 30 mins ago, I will not bother translating and reading them.

Please report if this works...

ive already cleaned my entire registry of cf and uninstalled / reinstalled over 20 times it doesnt work for me ...

Edit: Of course, that site is blocked... What did you expect?

Another Edit: Went through the rest of the Chinese sites, they're all pointing to re-installing Cross Fire from a fresh client. Run the CF Uninstaller and after that, go through the Program Files, GameGuard, My Documents and Registry to search for files/config files/entries that still exist.

well im trying to do what complex said right now cause their was some save files and like other stuff that was still their so i erased from computer and gonna look and see if it works, i also wish a game master would help us on this.

The gm should have comment this problem by now. What are they waiting for? Maybe they don't know how to really fix it...

the new patch for the new patch is going to be released tomorrow. If the same error occurs then you're right, they don't know how to fix it. I've gone through most of the diagnostic processes to "fix" crossfire. If the programmers can't create a program that works then they're obviously not very good at what they do. You shouldn't have to work for Microsoft and have a degree in Computer Science in order to find a way to install a simple application. I shouldn't have to scan the registry a billion times, reinstall to a different location, boot into safe mode, uinstall/reinstall and spend hours on google to try to find out why my I pay to use my "free" game that doesn't work.

That was i thought b4, but i dont need to reinstall my system since last patch though last patch 1027, i just needed to download and install it again. But now, i have no idea.

If you're having to reinstall your system to get CrossFire to work, there's a problem. A major problem. I will not reinstall my system as a "trouble shooting" step to get ONE application to work. If my computer was a BOSD every 5 minutes, my documents didn't save, and I had 4 viruses on my machine that caused it to reboot every 10 minutes then I would consider reinstalling my system. Its a last resort people. You shouldn't have to.

I know it, thats why i didnt do that. I just downloaded patch 1027 and installed, i could play. But now i did the same way, it hasnt been worked yet. Hope this patch tonite fix this thing.
