Crossfire isn't fullscreen

When i open crossfire, it won't go fullscreen, it just stays in the top left corner. and when i play a game, it gets bigger, but still not fullscreen.
I have a 1920 x 1200 monitor, and when i tried it on my other computer, it worked at 1600 x 900 resoloution, but now it doesn't.

  • while in lobby, go to settings, and click full screen mode. i bet you have it on windows mode
  • If you mean the black bars on the left and right site, while ingame, its because of Windows 7, i dont know how to change it though
  • because your trying to make the game run in 1900 you have to change your desktop settings to 1440 which is the max for cf resolution atm then change your in game resoultion to 1440 and it should go in full screen although im not entirely sure about that since you have a 1900 monitor
  • im having the same problem with the full screen and every other problem with the game since i got windows 7

    Windows 7 is anti-widescreen ;<
i'll ask some friends, maybe they know the problem
  • If you have an nvidia card go into the nvidia control panel and under "adjust desktop size and position" select "use nvidia scaling"
  • I got the same problem. Just like that. Out of the blue. Win7 x64.
    This kinda sucked hard.

    I tried to
    - reinstall CrossFire
    - deinstall Crossfire
    - clean any crossfire/z8games entries anywhere
    - reinstall CrossFire
    - clean my ATI drivers
    - clean my system of ATI left overs
    - reinstall ATI Drivers

=> NOTHING helped. But I play on an laptop with integrated and dedicated grafics. Switching to integrated the game started fine all the way, besides beeing not playable because of low FPS.

    NOW, HERE IS WHAT HELPED:
    - switch the desktop resolution to the resolution you play the game in
    - start the game: it works.
    - quit the game
    - change the desktop resolution back to the native resolution of the display
    - start the game: IT WORKS!!!

I do not know how and why, but this helped me.

    Have fun playing!
  • problem solved

my girlfriend had same problem i made her put both resolution and game resolution as 1024 X 768 and start the game
once its full screen changeback windows resolution to what she whanted.
    :)
  • Try to set your Monitor to 60hz cuz 59hz make it "Non-Fullscreen".
  • I have the same issue.
TEMPORY SOLOUTION WORKS WHILE IN GAME. NO MESSING WITH SETTINGS:
mine does the same bug by going small and in the top left when a game is loading and unless I stop it it stays like this, an easy fix is to press alt and then tab to switch to another program like notepad (open it before you load croossfire), wait for the game to load, click on crossfire at the bottom or press alt tab to switch back and hopefully play in full screen :) Hope it works for you too, mines vista not Windows 7 but its the same bug

I have win 7 and the black bars are only in lobby, In game it goes full screen for me just fine I run at 1440x900.
Sorry to ask an obvious question but after switching the video settings in crossfire did you restart the client? Also you want your in game resolution to be as close to your desktop resolution as possible, I know cf is crappy with resolutions, but try to get it close. They've been talking about a new resolution for almost a year and havent said anything else about it sense... Go figure.
  • THE CAUSE:
Windows 7. I've dealt with this whole thing a lot. Windows 7 now allows you to maintain your aspect ratio when programs resize your screen resolution as long as you have supporting drivers and hardware. The reason you can get Crossfire to go fullscreen with no aspect scaling (meaning no black bars on the edges) is because you scaled down your resolution to a 4:3 or 16:10 ratio.

    How to tell:
    Common 4:3 Resolutions:
    800x600
    1024x768
    1280x1024
    1600x1200

    Common 16:10:
    1280x800
    1440x900

    Common HD Resolutions (16:9):
    1280x720
    1366x768
    1600x900
    1920x1080
(NOTE: A majority of you with these problems will have an HD resolution)

    Monitor Connection:
All of you with this problem should have VGA or some type of analog connection to your monitor. VGA connections are typically blue-headed cables. A few of you (if any at all) could have S-Video which is also an analog connection (if you have your computer hooked up to a TV.)

You likely DO NOT have any Digital connections (HDMI or DVI) as these types of connections DO NOT support aspect scaling. In some cases you might, following the steps below should help though.

    SOLUTION:
Almost every monitor and graphics card driver has a setting for this on VGA connections, not all, but a very large majority. When playing ingame with black bars on your screen, go into your monitor settings and look for anything related to Scaling. If you come across something with "Scaling" in it's name, change the default setting (so if it's off, turn it on and if it's on, turn it off.) And that should fix the problem. If not, go into your Driver settings (most every updated card has its own control panel now) and look for similar settings in your resolution regarding scaling.
(With almost all nVidia cards [with updated drivers] you can just Right Click on your Desktop and select "NVidia Control Panel" and from there look at resolution settings)

    Good luck!

NOTE: Crossfire does NOT support ANY HD resolutions YET!
  • I have DVI connection and I have all the same problems
the game goes top left corner and blacks out a square then i can see in smaller square the game loading then
it goes to game mode and i have black bars on both sides of my monitor

    Me
    Win 7 X64
    3 X SLI 9800GTX+OC
    4gig ram
    screen resolution non game 1600 X 900
    game res 1440 X 900

I have made custom res of 1440 X 900 screen res to try it too
    still same effect
  • have the same problem

The screen is equal to her boy up
  • I have NVIDIA but when i click the control pannel it only gives me 5 options and none of them are "adjust desktop size and position". The only ones it has are "adjust images settings with preview", "Manage 3D settings", "Set PhysX configurations", "adjuse video color settings",and "adjust video image settings" I can not find "adjust desktop size and position" Can u please tell me how to locate that? Ty
  • THIS CAN HELP:

    1.st step: UPDATE GRAPHICS DRIVERS
    for nVidia: www.nvidia.com
    for ati: www.ati.com

    2.nd step: DO NECESSARY CHANGES
nVidia users: Change scaling of primary monitor to GPU, set fullscreen in nVidia Control Panel
ATI users: Start game, change resolution to resolution used in game, exit game, change resolution back to normal.
  • for nostalgia I instaled crossfire on an gaming laptop with RTX 2060.
My desktop resolution is 1920x1080, in game is the same resolution. I only see like the left corner in game. I changed a lot of resolutions in game but nothing happend it cant go full screen.
    what to do ?
  • After starting the game, minimize.
    Right to the desktop
    Screen Settings
    And change the resolution

I had the same problem, it only fixed itself.
I also have RTX. But it will be 100 years before this game will take over
