XTrap program conflict with XFIRE
Hello Cross Fire Gamers,
Xtrap Has been patched to fix this problem.
After our last few patches to get rid of VIP and the most recent public hack we have found that Xtrap is having problems getting around XFIRE.
The error message that you will receive looks like this:
We are in contact with the people at Xtrap and they are aware of the error. We hope to have it fixed as soon as possible.
We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience while this gets solved.
TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS:
Closing Xfire or other Game Launching programs will most likely correct this problem.
From Giggletron:
Note: to stop xfire linking with cf go on xfire then click on tools>options>games> then find crossfire. on the right click the drop down menu and click "Never Detect"
this will stop xfire from linking with crossfire
REMEMBER THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX!
From Dot:
Do a full uninstall.
Run the uninstaller from the start menu.
Delete the whole Subagames folder from X:\Program Files\.
This will remove the XTrap patches.
Do a fresh install by downloading the installer and running it.

I did this and restarted , re downloaded the game , and it still is giving me this error soon as I click start on the launcher.
you guys did something wrong here, im about to uninstall permanently im sick of messing with this problem you guys caused, and I will expect a refund of my ZP as well if I have to do so. This isnt a problem on my side the game has played fine for over a year, and I just played it last night, you guy did something or Xtrap isnt working correctly, and i sure as hell am not going to reinstall windows xp pro to fix this mess upon your part.
I expect to be able to play when I feel like it not have to work on my god damn computer all day to fix a problem you cause!

I'm not sure what one was the cause, but it seems it was not only Xfire.
Tried ot . Xtrap re downloaded the files and same error after it was done. -
arg ive tryed everything i can think of
clean image of windows when crossfire did work
scaned my entire system for viruses
tryed uninstalling crossfire and then deleted the folder manually
turning off every non essential proccess their is
short of actually turning off comodo firewall even though its already added ignore z8
i added entire z8 folder to both commodo firewall and deffense + then and avira exceptioned z8
turned off avira then and comodo deffense+
unistalled and killed every non essential app process i could find
dont have xfire installed
reinstalled crossfire exact same error 01 0400 0000000 701
game module cannot load or what not
whatever that update did it seriously must be interfering with
a windows os file
or possibly causeing a problem
with a socket or something
i do have the app bonjour for ITUNES ie proccess mSDNResponder.exe
which is made by neowiz same company listed
that u use for your hgcw anti hack thing
maybe thiers a conflic their but i disabled that as well and still no go
but i seriously dont think its another program interfering with it cause thiers like nothing
running at all on my system except my firewall itself
so games dead till u fix it
i wont drop my firewall
ive spent hours ripping viruses out of peoples comps that
didnt have anything but windows firewall
i read a gm' point to a thread fix
that actually suggested as a fix
to disable their antivirus and thier firewall ? are you kidding me ?
that is simply irresponsible even malicious to tell people that
why not just ask them to go download some rootkits
install them and see if their compatible with windows ? -
umm, i hope this helps alot of the confusion. I enjoy xfire in-game just as much as everyone else and know i would be really distressed not knowing what exactly was the problem with xtrap. unless xtrap has gotten worse with xfire within the last few hours (maybe 7 hours) then the problem with the error at discussion IS ONLY THAT XTRAP IS SEEING XFIRE'S IN-GAME FOR CROSSFIRE AS A HACKER PROGRAM. Again, it's only XFIRE'S IN-GAME FEATURE for CF. (really sorry about the caps, i just didn't see any tool to help me w/ colored text and i don't get on forums often enough to know the common commands for it). so, untill xtrap figures out a work-around for this, just go to (in xfire) tools, options, games, after it finishes detecting all of your installed games click on crossfire and disable xfire in-game. keep in mind that this is why making xfire not detect CF is also works. no detection = no attempt to launch the in-game. but, i figured u ppl of xfire would also like to have ur time shown on xfire. ;D
hope this helped (although 1 thing to take into consideration is that i'm using windows 7, so there may be some OS thing taking part in this too but i highly doubt it) If disabling in-game or making it so that xfire doesn't detect CF doesn't work for you guys, just post here. I'll try and keep tabs on this thread.
