Crossfire Problem

After i installed crossfire i try to start the game and the screen saying play now disappears; I look into my processes and the patcher cf is running but nothing else happens, im running window XP

what kind of firewall are you using?

i don't think the fire wall is the problem because I've tried everything with fire wall off when i hit start game it doesn't start, and when i try it again it says error patcher cf is already running
