Crossfire not recongnized

On my Windows XP, when I hit the crossfire setup or the actual program itself, it comes up with an 'Open With' window. This means that the program isn't recognized, correct? But shouldn't the initial program recognization come with the download for the game setup? I already checked the properties, and I'm still having a heck of a time trying to figure this out. Any advice?

Are you talking about the CF installer? If so right click on it and go rename and then try tossing .exe on the end of it.
