How bad is this games engine?
How come CSS has better graphics than crossfire and gives better frames than crossfire with MUCH less lag. I don't know much about how video games work, but what is it that makes this games lag SO terrible. CSS has no interp, provides beautiful frames on an average computer, and has such smoother gameplay in terms of model and weapon movement.
I would like some explanations as to WHAT it is that makes this games engine so horrible in terms of frames per second and the interp.
For example, i strafe peak see an enemy, then strafe back behind a wall. 1 second later i get shot with that enemies bullet WHILST im behind that cover wall. Also i get higher fps in a 15v15 aim map on source than a 2v2 on crossfire.

And the point of you dying behind a wall. It's either your ping or the other player's ping. FPS has nothing to do with it.
Never said it did, it has happened to me where i have 10 ping and the player as 20-50 , which leads to it being the bad net code or the bad game engine. -

Arm, hand, leg, foot?
Just because you are staring at a wall doesn't mean your whole body is behind it all the way. -

... When you're head is behind a wall and you're going against an 80~100 pinger you die behind the wall, EVEN, if you get headshotted.
I get this ALL the time. The point is dieing instantly, not getting hit in any of the appendages you mentioned.
THEREFORE, I agree that the game engine this game runs is horrible. -
how can CSS have better graphics and better FPS?
they contradic themselves...
1.// Are surely not as many as the Valve programmers.
2.// Make LESS money than Valve, and have LESS money to spend.
3.// Might even be a little less good in programming than their Valve collegues.
Because CF is F2P and CS:2 is P2P -

Crossfire runs on Lithtech Jupiter, while Counter Strike:Source runs on Valve's Source Engine.
A game engine can be software that has programming features geared towards game-making, and can usually produce an EXE file (though some, like Java-based game engines, require software to run the file it outputs.) Some game engines can be lib/dll files that add as add-ons to well established programming languages (C/C++, VB/VB.NET, Java, etc.)
In short, a game engine makes game programming faster and easier.
The Lithtech Jupiter Engine is less advanced than the Valve Source Engine with issues like lag and RAM handling, but I think Subagames/Z8 did a good job with what they had.
Hope this post was able to help someone ^_^ -

As for Java, the only game I know of that uses it is Runescape...
But I think this is off-topic, not everyone is a programmer here XD -
well, this is a FREE to play game therefore the engine they use will be limited and will have a lot of bugs. The Source engine was made by Valve and they have enough resources to make something good and worthwhile that is actually good.
What this guy said. The fact that CS:S also has servers located in many different countries. So that reduces lag, latency wise. The fact that you got "Shot behind a wall". Was just the game. Say you are X and the other guy is ABC. ABC comes out catwalk on bw and shoots you while you are on the ledge of the train in a site. But you are "Behind the train". On ABC's screen you would be clearly in his sights and he would of shot you. But on X's screen he moved back just as he shot and ABC's shot regged. Just my opinion on it. I'm probably wrong. -
who would build an FPS game in VB.NET?

Was describing game engines because someone asked, not an FPS specifically. Would be a bad idea to make an FPS, or really and graphic/network heavy game in VB/VB.NET, was just an example. There are quite a few Java engines, they aren't really that great, but meh, the game engine used is up to the people running the game. -
Just a little heads up, i'm going to be making a neat video showing how flawed model movements are, how messed up the views from your characters are, how much the reg sucks, how bad the interp is and finally the hitboxes and the models themselves.
It's going to be epic... if I ever truly get around to caring enough to show just how bad it is.
As a side note, watch any of the older CF videos and you will see relatively smooth model movement and models. -

Ahh, youtube channel? To subscribe. Can't wait to watch this video. But, my thread was closed hence the petition, but I'll be writing more speculations to it. -

I really, really hope you do this. I can't wait to watch it.
