This used to happen less frequently but now it's happening more again. I get all the normal Mfc application crashes but what's unique for me is that sometimes in the middle of a game I will hear an increasing but very fast whisp-like sound and then the game freezes and I try to hit caps lock and the light on my keyboard doesn't change. Same with scroll and num lock. The only way of fixing it is hard reboot. The sound is very unique, it last about half a second, randomly and I can't recreate it. It's a very quick progression for low bass-like tone and finishes high pitched, all in half a second. I have no idea if there are any logs I can read and there is no BSOD, so I don't know what to do. Tomorrow however I'll rset my computer with a fresh install of windows xp and see If that fixes it. In the meantime what could the problem be?
