Pretty Bad Bullying Situation

I'm going to keep it short and to the point. Fill in the missing information by context...

The bullying situation on CrossFire is pretty bad. With that said, this isn't a message to the people who have tons of friends and don't experience it. And I'm not talking about annoying someone for 1 game and then forgetting it ever happened, I'm talking about harassing a player for more than a year in very subtle ways.

These subtle ways include:

-Getting clan mates to do the more obvious in-pub bullying themselves, although it was ordered by one person, or maybe two (while that one person or two pretends to be your friend)

-Using multiple alt accounts to perform the bullying. ("verbal" harassment, "tbagging" constantly, targetting, etc) as to avoid getting banned

-Spreading fake news around the community about someone to lower his or her reputation

And the list goes on and on. These things, if you--God forbid--one day experience them, will certainly feel more severe than the typical one-game harassment many players see on a daily. What the community doesn't see is that bullying on this game can get very bad. And you can go ahead and say block chat or play with your friends, but if someone is spreading gossip, getting multiple clans and clanmates to hate you, and harasses you in any other way they feel will even slightly hurt your emotions on a consistent basis(ongoing for a year in my case), you're not able to simply brush it off.

Fortunately, I have played this game for a while now and don't play very often anymore. In fact, I'm currently in the process of my 6-month break to enjoy life without video games (something I do once in a while ). Back on topic, to the people experiencing this, it isn't enough to simply report someone and block chat. They (bullies) will find ways around it. I know there isn't much support can do if multiple accounts are used and very subtle bullying tactics (hard to report with evidence) are used, but if you would just think about updating the account registration limit and fix the glitches with it, when a harassing player is banned he or she may be banned without possibility of simply returning to the game to perform more bullying.

Harassing players don't care if their main gets banned, because at the moment their focus is to bring someone down. So even if they have to do it on an alt they will.

Glitches in the registration include using different browsers to bypass the limit on registration, going incognito on different browsers, and using different computers or devices (like phones, tablets, etc), to bypass the limit. I know it's a hard thing to fix, but just keep in mind that some people bully, and they bully well, because that's all they know and all they live for apparently. They find ways to bypass getting banned, and as someone who's experience it myself, there isn't much being done to stop the SEVERE bullying situations in this game.

There is so SO SO SO SO much more to explain and that I have to say, but I doubt anyone has read this far anyway. But to anyone out there who is being bullied online or in CrossFire, the easiest way to get rid of them is to let them be, while you flee. Run away and go live life and be happy, don't fight them back. They are only trying to lure you into the trap of being as unhappy as they are. I'm so happy right now in my 6 month break, I doubt I'll be back within the year LOL. I'm finding more and more interesting things about life, about friends, about myself...There is so much more out there than the bullies you deal with on a multiplayer game application sitting through a tiny red icon on your desktop screen.

Anyway, just felt this needed to be said. Please do something about this administrators. Community, please stop the bullying. Don't believe the lies your "friends" tell you about a person, because if you get to know that person people spread so much gossip about, you might learn that you were on the wrong boat the entire time.

  • i don't think they can do anything about this
-Getting clan mates to do the more obvious in-pub bullying themselves, although it was ordered by one person, or maybe two (while that one person or two pretends to be your friend)

-Using multiple alt accounts to perform the bullying. ("verbal" harassment, "tbagging" constantly, targetting, etc) as to avoid getting banned

-Spreading fake news around the community about someone to lower his or her reputation

but if someone insulted you then go and report him and he will be banned for like 3 days i guess

I know, those are the subtle, less obvious tactics they use to avoid getting into trouble themselves. That is why I am suggesting fixing the bugs with the registration limit so that when a harassing player IS banned he or she cannot simply go and create another account to continue bullying.

And it is so much more than insulting man. Have you read the post?
  • Just unfriend them/block them & change your IGN
  • Competitive free to play games generally have more aggressive and "entitled " communities.

I get angry myself when i dont do well.
    Best solution?
    Shift + F2
  • Even though you are not getting comments you hoped for, I wish you good luck within this game fighting off bullies!
If I was able to do something about it, I would.
  • Can't help but remember that good old meme.
I removed the words I think inappropriate.

Seriously tho, How can a GM stop this? And how come cyber bullying is even a thing?
Just ignore it bro just stop looking at the messages they send you , I'm pretty sure if you don't reply that person back, he'll F off in two days.
You know I'm an Egyptian, I'm a Muslim, a lot of people in almost all rooms insult these two types of people ( Muslims/Egy) , but WTH cares really? I don't. Chill, and have fun

Feel free to send us a ticket if you see this happening, and our support will take it from there.

Yes, harassment is bannable. Insults are bannable too. We like you guys to have as safe an experience as we can provide. :)

Nyaruhodo, your hard work to keep the atmosphere clean and friendly is highly appreciated. will definitely report such cases in the future
  • I think players' cases against harassers could be made more solid if there was something like having all chat logs saved constantly by the server. So for example if a player harasses another player, and the latter player submits a report and includes the date and time these chats occurred. The support GM can cross-check bullied player's accusation by checking the saved chat logs, subsequently giving out bans to the accused. Also, after implementing this, a warning or something is made known to all players that all your chats are being saved for security reasons. And you can receive a ban based on those chat logs if they contain anything that breaks Z8's rules.

Easy but an efficient solution I guess.

I understand where you're coming from, but if a player can take time to submit the report and save the date and time, they can also take time to hit the printscreen button so that they take a screenshot and send it in the ticket, which is the current system anyway.

I don't really have the required intelligence to understand how your support system works. For instance, I have a few reports on my 'Submitted Reports' where I have reported people for using extremely hateful, racist, insulting remarks to other players for no reason. I've encountered these harassers multiple times and have noticed that they always use derogatory remarks whenever they're killed or mutated or when they lose. Some of them even have these insults saved as macros. But all players that I have reported were not banned and still have their HS ribbon and are still at large in public rooms, insulting every other person who kills them. Almost all of these are low-ping, good English-speakers from European countries, mainly from East-European countries.

So I thought that maybe you guys don't take screenshots as solid proofs all the time. So having saved chat logs on your own end would help these cases immensely.
which is the current system anyway.

I understand what "If it's not broken, don't fix it" means. But as evident from frequent complaints about CF's support system being made all the time, your support system is clearly broken and I believe it's time it should be fixed and changed for good.

The above that I've highlighted in red again becomes an issue of "I didn't see it therefore it must not have happened." I have not been to Disneyland. However, I have it on pretty good word that yes, Mickey Mouse is there. Because you have not seen their ban, does not mean they have not been banned. And as stated countless times before, the Honorable Soldier ribbon is lost by hacking, exploiting bugs, third party programs, etc. You will not lose it for insulting. So this is probably not a good bet to go on.

In response to your 'submitted reports' I assume you mean tickets, as thats where the support team takes screenshots from. In cases where people are insulting, racist, being hateful, etc I assure you that yes, punishments are always handed out.

In response to 'Frequent complaints about support' its not so much that it is broken, as much as it is that many players do not get their way via the support system, and to them they see that as 'broken' because it does not suit their particular desires at that particular time. There are things in it I agree would need to change, absolutely, but these do not pertain to insults or arguments, which is the original topic here. Also your sig is cool so thats a thing.

You're getting better at this, I see. I accept the defeat :p, but it was a good suggestion nonetheless. Appreciate your comment about my sig. Thanks :)
  • I'll step in and say that Pooyan's suggestion of a chat log wouldn't be a bad idea in the fact that when support relies on a player to send pictures of the chats you are likely only getting PART of the story as they will take the portion where one player made an insult, which should be punished, but what it leaves out is what the reporting player may have said that was equally insulting to the other player or flat out instigating the situation. As we know there's PLENTY of people that like to provoke the hatred out of others just so they can turn around and say 'imma report you know :joyemoji: "

while i'd like to think people who would bother to take the time to report something are hitting up as spectators to the conversations or are a part of it but showing the full thing....it's doubtful with our player base.

This is a decent point that I can bring up to the team, for sure.
  • I'm bullied on discord, do I have a say in this?

do you have an M4 Spring?

If you do then yes you can have a say. If not...then no your opinion on this doesn't matter.
  • Can you PM me who this person is and all the clans that are involved into this?

I truly do want to see who he/she is.

It's one thing to hate and harass someone but to involve all your friends, clan mates, other clans and being in the wrong while he/she is at it. That's a new low.

In fact, you might as well expose him/her right here and give everyone involved a wake-up call.
It's not hackusating but just talking about someone's personality and actions. Don't do it before knowing for sure though.

Also, this is your side of the story. And while I'm not saying i don't believe you, I'm also not saying i do believe you. Because i only heard one side and can't take it for granted that you're saying the truth.

In the meantime, i wish you luck in your life and if something is really bothering you then please find help. Don't let it go to far and take things in your own hand. Good luck!

Thank you for your concern. However, like I said, it is really hard to pick out the bullying for yourself, if you are not the victim. In fact, once they find out you are observing them in any sort of way, they will find a way around it. They will even try to use their tactics on you to go against me, like spreading the fake news to make you believe I said something bad about you, etc, etc.

And I will go ahead and tell you who they are, and the clans associated.

The mastermind is an account named: ily However, this is just an alt account. His main was named Nyquil but he uses multiple alt accounts. He is in the clan Moods, which a good amount of them are influenced by his hatred.

Also, the leader of the clan Scrimmage is working alongside with him, using multiple alt accounts and turning everyone against me as well.

The clan Fenty's leader also uses insulting language. He isn't as bad, but he is still a part of the group. They are all clan leaders or close to the clan leaders, and use their power to influence their clans and a good portion of the CF population to bully.

BloodHaven is another clan that bullies.

Pretty much, a good amount of the members in all of those clans listed [Moods, BloodHaven, Fenty, Scrimmage] treat me very, very lowly. It is just that the leaders of those clans (excluding BloodHaven), are the mastermind behind all the hate. I really don't blame the members so much; it's the leaders.

But, like I said, it is really hard to pick out. You can't find this type of behavior on a daily basis when you are observing. But they come on a consistent basis, every three days or so, and use members of their clans to keep the hate alive whenever I am playing with them.

And as for my story, I will admit, I have hosted a fake tournament and been a little c0ccky in game, when it comes to my skill. But I have never went to consistent harassment/bullying.
  • Feel free to send us a ticket if you see this happening, and our support will take it from there.

I will do that. However, I remember the last time I reported a player, it wouldn't allow me to upload the screenshot files because they were too large. I guess I need to upload to tinypic first.

Yes, a saved chat log would be great for each individual player, like in the CF files or something. Thanks for the concern.

(Woops, sorry, I accidentally moved this to Off Topic at like 4 AM my time when I was half asleep. I just moved it back.)

I agree the knife community comes off extremely toxic. Since you have to be at a short distant for a melee attack to hit, this gives people plenty of time to simple camp a spot and dish out insults.

I don't have a solution to your bullying issue, but we can play knife together if you think that would help you at all. Maybe they'll behave if they see a mod is in the room? I always joined your side every time anyway since, as you pointed out, there were always people waiting to queue up the side opposite yours.
