In-game or in the lobby? Have you tried clicking the text multiple times? Do you type to replace it or do you press backspace first?
I sometimes have issues in-game where I can't change my macros unless I click the text a couple times and press backspace to get rid of it. -

1. Go to My Documents \ Cross Fire - delete all files with .dat extension (ok you move them on other location ) - this will reset all your game setting to default
2. Remove the read only option from My Documents \ Cross Fire , also from CF game location - windows tend to put all files on read only and forget about that when you need to modify them later
Going to try this in a while and let you know thank you in advance
