The game doesn't go full screen like it should.

So I got a new monitor a while back and when playing in Full Screen on any Resoultion that isn't 1920 x 1080 the game will just become a smaller square to relate to it's resoultion rather than scaling itself.

I hate this since I loved to play on the smaller resoultion and now I can't since it would be a small square in my screen.

Anyway of fixing this? ( I can make it fit by using my monitor settings but it looks terrible like alot worse than what CF would do )

  • Its the first I'm hearing of this but its possible that CF just doesn't support the proper scaling to change that. Its also possible something about your PC isn't allowing it to go full screen if its in a resolution that your PC isn't set to.

It ain't my PC. My PC was fine doing this with my last monitor but this new one is not doing the right things.

If it's CF then CF need to get out of 2007 and actually realise it's in 2017. Girl's Generations are 10 years older and have gotten better and better throughout the years ( my opinion don't hurt me ) but Crossfire still doesn't know how to update itself to fit with the modern hardware.

I tried changing my PC settings and still Crossfire wants to not do the right thing so yeah... I guess I won't be having as much fun as I used to now..
  • Yes the game is old .... but newer PC can run-it ... if not have messed up display settings :P

First you must check your GPU drivers are updated, also check if your windows recognize your new display - if not maybe you need to install the display drivers (usually all new display are autodetected)
    * Use a DVI-to-DVI cable from PC to display if you can, if you are using VGA-to-VGA or VGA-to-DVI most like windows can't autodetect your display model.
** Here are some explains about VGA / DVI / HDMI connections, and why is BEST using DVI for gamming : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMVDejZH4kw

Because i can play on 24 inch display ( witch is 1980x1080 native) and the game now is set to 1024x768 - and is run full screen, is all about your GPU drivers settings,

i use nvidia GTX 560 (connected by DVI port) - there is the settings for nvidia drivers to have game in full screen (complete screen - no black bars) :

P.S. Don't modify the refresh rate unless you are sure your display support the value you want to set (my display can handle max 144 hz - but i use 120 )

I've done what you said and it works and doesn't work.

It changes my resolution for my computer to keep with my Crossfire settings and that's pretty annoying since I have to keep changing it back and forward.

As you see the 1920 x 1080 isn't (current) but the resolution used for CF would be.

    Anyway around this one?

edit: I know I have override ticked but it doesn't make a difference with it unticked.
  • I've had this issue with a few laptops in the past, generally it was just the way it handled lower resolutions, and I don't think there's a way to change it most of the time.

I spent a couple hours researching it a few years back but never got anywhere.

Do other games do the same thing if you set the resolution lower?

Edit: Never mind! I guess nowadays there are a lot more resources available and more solutions (Compared to like 10 years ago), have you tried anything like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LM40tTpgH4
