Headset Help needed..

Alright so i just bought a new headset, and when i plug it into my laptop it works fine.
But when i plug it into the computer i play crossfire on, it wont work.
When i plug it into the front the computer doesnt even recognize its plugged in, when i plug it into the back of the modem it recognizes its there, 'a jack has been plugged in'. But i cant hear sound out of the headset or use the mic.
So im blaming my computer as it works on my other computer.
Any ideas or help to how i can try to fix this?

try unplugging your speakers then plug it into urt computer
it should work..i dont it all the time
