[CFCL Elite September] HeavensDevils Exclusive Interview

u0Oa3B3.png

Hi, everyone!

[MOD]Abel here again. The first week of CFCL Elite in month three has just passed and some teams have shown great performances and skill in their matches. For the next couple of weeks, you can expect interviews of our top talented teams to be posted on here. Since there's only so many weeks in a month, yet there's more than 10 teams competing each month, unfortunately, not every team will be interviewed.

Don't forget to support your favorite teams every Saturday on Twitch. For more information on the teams and match times, check out the official CFCL homepage.

For this weeks interview, I will be interviewing HeavensDevils who is currently ranked 5th in the standings as of now.

So without further comments, I present to you:

QUESTION
ANSWER

Please tell us a little about HeavensDevils.
Heaven’s Devils was originally named 5URVIVE before playing under a sponsorship. The team was formed about 2 months ago. We went through ups and downs with our roster and gameplay. Striving through adversity and staying put as team, has paid off!

Heaven’s Devils goals are to be the best version of ourselves and hopefully in doing so we can capture a chance to represent Crossfire in many major tournaments to come!

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?
aWm:
Name: Benjamin Doan
Age: 23
Position: Support/AK47
Country: United States

I have been playing CrossFire since 2009 and started playing CrossFire competitively on and off since 2011 and have been streaming several times a week since 2015 on Twitch. I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Human Resource Development degree. I am hoping to accomplish great things with my team Heaven’s Devils and climb our way to the top in the North American region.

mKz:
Name: Merxaz Kunduru
Age: 18
Position: Sniper/AWM
Country: Canada

I have been playing this game since 2009 and just recently started competitive. I am currently studying business at York University and trying to pursue something in the business industry. I'm hoping I can achieve big things with my team Heaven’s Devils and work our way up to become the*best team in North America.

Hello to whomever is reading this interview, my name is Alan Lei. I am 15 years old and I currently play competitive CrossFire for Heaven’s Devils. I am from the United States. My main goal as of right now is to be a student athlete. I am a basketball and football star. I have been playing CrossFire since 2013. I started playing competitive CrossFire since 2015.

tWd:
Name: Tyler Power
Age: 20
Position: Attacker/AK47
Country: United States

Hi, I have been playing CrossFire since 2009 and just started playing competitive about a year ago. Just a good guy to be around and just a gamer.

g0d:
Name: Derrick Fallinger
Age: 20
Position: In-game Leader/AK47
Country: United States

I’ve been playing professional CrossFire under the in-game name imag1ne for 3 years, I’ve won numerous ESL cups and most recently 3rd place in the 2016 National Finals.

So now the CrossFire players know a little about you guys, what about outside of CrossFire? What are your main hobbies outside of CrossFire?
aWm: I love streaming to entertain my viewers and I love trying new food from different cultures!

mKz: I love playing basketball as well as gaming.

jMb: I am currently a basketball and football player so I love playing those sports!

tWd: I love to play basketball and gaming. I like hanging with friends.

g0d: I love playing soccer but lately I’ve been busy preparing for CFCL, CFS and going to college!

How does it feel to be part of CFCL Elite tournament?
Being apart of CFCL Elite tournament was a very exciting feeling! The competitive side of CrossFire is insanely fun. We have tried applying for it last month but was denied. This time around it is our time to shine and show why we deserve a spot in Elite.

Since you guys are a new team, do you have tips for other teams entering the competitive scene?
aWm: Always be open to change when something is not working and pay attention to the role you are playing.

mKz: Be open to learning new things, and adapting to new play styles. Don’t be stubborn and only want to play your way. Fps games are team based. Not individual.

jMb: When you guys first enter the competitive scene, you guys try to win but also have fun in order to build that team chemistry. As time goes by *you guys should prioritize winning over joking around. Also, you need to have an open mind for improvement. Everyone should know their roles and not be a pubstar as they do transition from a pubstar to a true competitive player. The best way to improve your team is to go over maps, make strats, learn from your makes and don’t consistently make them again, make sure everyone have their aim/have a shot, and don’t get on to troll in scrims and waste your time as time shouldn’t be taken for granted.

tWd: Just have a positive attitude and practice with good competitive players and watch videos on how other players play. Be apart of a team and get use to communicating and teamwork.

g0d: I have been apart of the roster for a few weeks, and in-game leading for about half of that time and we’re already seeing huge improvements! The best tip really is to not waste your time! Make sure all your scrims/team practice and aim training is as productive as possible!

So what are some things you guys do to prepare for matches??
Preparing for matches can be sometimes difficult for the team. We all have a busy schedule that consist of school, work, and sports. We still make time to practice and focus on improving our gameplay and strengthening our team chemistry.

Is there any teams that you feel like they be a challenge to face in CFCL?
Heaven’s Devils collectively want to be the best we can be, and we hope to achieve the #1 spot in NA. Considering the talent of STDx, they are going to be an extremely tough opponent! They proved it through their performance and gameplay. We are looking forward to facing them.

Since CFCL is only limited to CFNA, are there any teams you look forward to competing against in the future?
We are looking forward to playing FLIPSID3 in the near future. Seeing that they placed 2nd in the international event, motivates us to work harder!

Tell us something you admire about another CFCL team or a player?
aWm: STDx’s chemistry and gameplay is what I admire most.

mKz: STDx’s raw aim and outstanding teamwork.

jMb: Phat is a great overall player. He has raw aim and amazing clutching abilities.

tWd: STDx’s teamwork and dedication to the game.

g0d: Supamen and xfam0usx’s chemistry is some of the best I’ve ever seen in a duo.

Would you ever consider joining another tournament which isn’t S&D related? E.g. Ghost Mode or Escape mode?
We would join another tournament which isn’t S&D related, but we do not have enough time collectively to prepare for other modes.

Do you have any advice for your fans?
aWm: Play with people better than you!

mKz: You run a 500m dash with people who run slower than you, are you really accomplishing much? And will you get better? No. You run a 500 m dash with people who are faster than you and make it harder for you to win and you are bound to get better every time.

jMb: Some advice for our fans is to keep practicing, try to work on your aim to the point where you don’t have to focus and try as hard, and also when you join a team you should have good teamwork, communication, and know your role!

tWd: Work hard and be dedicated.

g0d: Surround yourself with better players and you yourself will grow as a player.

Before we conclude the interview, where can we find you guys on social media?
aWm: I currently have all social media so you can follow me on either Facebook, Twitter, Twitch and Instagram.

mKz: If you would like to keep updated with what I'm doing, you can follow me on Twitter and Twitch.

jMb: You can find me on Twitter, Twitch and YouTube.

tWd: You can follow me on Twitter and Twitch.

g0d: Would love a follow on Twitter, Twitch and sub on YouTube.

Thank you for the interview!
Thank you!
