a lot of players (including me) recently complained about this issue , after some inquiries and asking some old programmers about the reason for it and how to fix it I discovered the following:
Its main reason: for some reasons some of the Internet IP addresses are blocked for cf in some countries like Egypt (thats why is happens with Egyptian players only) and the IP of the routers update automatically every 24 hours ,sometimes the new IP is blocked and in this case you keep getting the error for the whole day , other times the new IP is not blocked so you can play normally . thats why it sometimes fixes itself without any external actions.
How to solve it?
The easiest way is restarting your router till you get an IP that is not blocked
I was told to open cf first then restart the router a couple of times ( not really sure about that) but with me it works very fine!
If you know any players who get this issue, please tell them about the solution to it, it will fix 50% of cf problems

I tried but no use still facing HGW stuck at step 3 issue..:(
i restarted my router multiple times but no use...

Yea, it's the only solution for those who keep getting these non-sense errors.

This started happening to me yesterday so I gave up playing for a few hours, came back and the game started working fine.

same problem with me for more than a week now..do everything and even send ticket to GMs but they ignore it/...i am from saudi arabia..still hoping someone could fix this issue and share it in here would appreciate..thanks!

They choose to ignore it due to the fact they are not clued up with it. Special people in the office Called Game Master's rofl... they look stupid imho.

this is not the issue with mentioned in the main thread so it will not fix your issue , though I hope someone find. A solution to yours

This problem is not limited to egypt though.

I would suggest uninstalling then re-installing and when you launch CF then "Run As Admin".

Also, turn of firewall and antivirus and anything else when downloading/patching it.

I haven't tried uninstalling/reinstalling so I think I will try that and might as well with firewall off. After the update yesterday I got the error in every game within a minute in game so makes me think it maybe server side though... now it's seemed to calm down today a bit and comes every few games but still annoying especially with the event
