Analysis

Week 2 was a huge week for every team, since it gave the community insight on who could consistently bring home the wins, while we saw other teams start to struggle to maintain their standing from week 1.

The biggest improvement in standings we saw were from Those Guys, who after a shaky first week of 1-2, came back and swept 3-0 in their matches for week 2. Moving themselves into the top half of the pack after starting on the bottom half. However, these results should also be looked at with the important observation, that all 3 wins were from the bottom 3 teams in the standings, so the real test for Those Guys will be maintaining or improving this standing going into week 3.

The biggest fall this week in standing was unfortunately team Abyss. They had a very hard match schedule this week and the results definitely show this. Taking losses to Flipside, Penta, and STDX is definitely a hard hit to take in one weekend, but looking ahead they no longer have to face any of the current top 3 teams, which could open up Abyss to make a last minute climb back up the standings.

There were no huge upsets this week, but definitely some matches that came close to it. PENTA dropped a map to rawness, but PENTA ultimately was able to win the match by just a few rounds, however I have to give credit to rawness for showcasing some great talent throughout elite league so far. Rawness took a 2 rank drop in the standings, but I look forward to seeing how they rebound into week 3 matches.

!nstinct was another team we saw major improvements from this week. They were able to put up some commanding 2-0 wins against Abyss and Harabas and really showcase some of the plays we have come to expect from this well versed line up.

STDX, F3, and Those Guys were the only teams to go 3-0 this week, which is also important to look at as well. This week Exotic lost their #3 spot to the now 5-1 STDX, who ironically enough has only lost to Exotic thus far, which begs the question; how will STDX perform against the European powerhouse lineups of Penta and F3?

Overall I was impressed with the display of talent in this 2nd week, and it shed light on the talent levels of teams that I seemed unsure of in the opening week.

My own MVPs for this weeks talent on stream

Streamed Matches MVPs

Game 1: Abyss vs !nstinct
MVP: Ralf
Reasoning: Ralf brought in tons of heavy entry frag plays for his team and ultimately put them in the position to overhaul Abyss in an impressive victory of 10-3 and 10-5.

Game 2: STDX vs Rawness
MVP: Supamen (Phat)
Reasoning: Going into this match there was a lot of hype behind rawness after they upset !nstinct, but if there was any doubt behind STDX, Supamen brought home play after play to shut that idea down. With an impressive showing, and some truly memorable clutch moments, Supamen definitely earned this MVP.

Game 3: F3 vs PENTA
MVP: Snox
Reasoning: Snox really stepped up to plate on Ankara after a a first map win on the Golden round of Sub base. With 3 rounds in a row of getting insane double kills, he also displayed an elite level of aim in many high pressure situations when his team needed it most.

I am very excited to see the standings shifting, and things heating up in the fight for the top spot. I look forward to this coming weekend, as it will surely continue to amaze us all with the level of talent these teams display as they fight for the monthly 1st Place prize of $2500!
