Game freezes 9 out of 10 times

Whenever I start the game, it freezes.
Whenever I log in the game, it freezes.
When I join a server, it freezes.
When I join a room, it freezes.
When I go to any shop, it freezes
When I manage to join a game, everything is fine after that.

Now these freezes completely freeze the game so I have to shut it down via a Task Manager...

I reinstalled completely windows, it still freezes.

I am running a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
I have it installed on my HDD.

  • What are the specs of your computer? Do any other games do this? Is your internet stable?
  • I have the same issue, along with my client loading offscreen (which I started my own thread for). It has only happened the past couple of months, and seems to be more frequent now. But as OP stated, once we actually get into a game, there are no issues after that. My specs arent great, but i'm sure meet the minimum at least. Windows 10, AMD A12 APU 2.5GHz (Can boost to 3.4GHz) with Radeon R7 graphics, 8GB RAM.

    my client loading offscreen

Did this by any chance happen after updating Windows? Mine has started going onto my second monitor after full screen matches.
  • All CrossFire versions freeze - VN, NA, EU etc.
This is the only game that I have freeze issues with.

    My internet speed is:
    Download: 200 Mbps
    Upload: 20 Mbps

    My PC specs:
    Intel Core i5 4460 3.2GHz
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 4GB
    RAM 8GB
  • The only freeze i experience is temporary from time to time inside rooms, mostly when i change for the first time the bags and randomly freeze 1-2 time during the game play (not know the actual reason , maybe when a new player join)
Some tips for you to try:
    1. Run game as administrator
    2. Run game on compatibility mode windows 7 even you are using win 7

    P.S.
    Hardware check:
Check your CPU and GPU temperature (you may use a program like speedfan) if our temp past 60-70 degree is not normal,
may be caused by a bad fan or CPU/GPU coolers may have too much dust and air not pass through
also after 2-3 years thermal paste usually need to be replaced
    Software check:
update all your drivers (sometimes a bios a update can solve a lots of issues, but must be done with cautions - not advise this opreation to PC beginners)

    My hardware : i5 750 2,8 GHz, Nvidia GTX 560 1 GB, RAM 8 GB DDR3, Win7 Pro x64

    CPU Temps:
My idle temps are on 41°C.
The highest temps I get while playing games is max 80°C and that's only when I play really heavy games.
Temps that I get while playing CrossFire are just about 56 - 51°C.

    GPU Temps:
    Idle: 36 - 37°C
    Running CrossFire: 36 - 37°C

I tried the compatibility mode, it still freezes.
    My drivers are all up-to-date.
  • Then most like you have a software problem like other background programs, older divers ... etc.

I just made a test run on 2 lower hadrware config and CF was running:

    1. PC: AMD Athlon 2,2 Ghz / RAM 4 GB DDR2 !! / Radeon HD 2400 with 256 MB ddr3 / Windows 7 Home Premium x64 = average 30-40 FPS ... slow loading, first room join usually exit back on lobby because slow loading .. ancient PC :)
    2. Notebook HP: Intel N3510 dual core 1,9 Ghz / RAM 4 GB DDR3 / Video Intel HD (from CPU) / Windows 10 = max 30 FPS .. still slow loading rooms - experience 2 game totally freeze at the moment i was try to enter ITEM SHOP - game display that useless tip message and frozen there ... but on 3-th attempt was enter and not freeze anymore.

Still those 2 config are not for playing any games :) bearly running for surfing internet ...

P.S. If you have installing CF on default location c:\Programs Files\z8Games\CrossFire\ .. etc, try to change location on next partition like d:\Cross Fire\ ... maybe you have a bad sector inside CF location , that's the only hardware issue i can think right now

It's a new OS that's almost clean except drivers. Only graphics driver and audio.
It's not installed on a default location. It's on D.
My SSD is C and my HDD is D.

I will try to move it on SSD when I get have the time since I haven't tried that yet.
  • Moving CrossFire to SSD seems to have fixed the issue.
