Client loading offscreen/crashing

Hi, over the past couple of months I have had an issue with my client loading offscreen at varying positions like this (This is my full screen, not cropped)

I also have issues with the client freezing often before the login box shows. Sending a support ticket yielded a typical copy/paste response with the usual reinstall/virus scan etc. If anyone here has an idea how to fix , it would be appreciated

I think they may not happen if you run it and keep your cursor on desktop, don't switch tabs or click with your mouse until it loads.

That isnt the issue here, I have no reason to click or change tabs since I prefer to only run CF by itself and it loads fast enough for me to not have much time to click

May I ask what your screen resolution is?

My laptop screen resolution is 1366x768. I had CF set to run at that resolution until a couple of days ago, changed it down to 1024x768 because it reduced load times when joining/finishing games. This issue persisted before and after the CF resolution change

It usually happens to me when I click with my mouse and so instead of waiting for it to load, but it never happens when I just wait until it loads. My resolution is 1024*768 as well.

Try to change the settings manually by going to "System.dat" file located in your Screenshot folder which is located at "Documents/CrossFire". Open it with your Text Editor of choice, and replace the VERY FIRST NUMBER to a "5".

After this, try running CrossFire as Admin. Hopefully, that will help!

I have tried what you suggested and the same thing happens. then when I check the system.dat file again, the 5 has reverted to a 1

Try changing it back to 5 again. Then run as Admin. If that does not work, try changing the number to 4 or 3.

Try right clicking it, going to properties, and ticking the Read-only box. This will prevent CrossFire from automatically changing your settings.
