Thinking of Coming Back

Hey all,

I've not logged in for about 3 years now, though my account is still active, and was wondering if the same problems that have made me quit twice in the past 8 years are still rampant. Although there are far better FPS out there, Crossfire was my first and always holds a place in my heart.

What's the 'problem' you're talking about?

The problems were always the same which is why I didn't think I had to mention them, namely the blatant hacking,

in regards to the hacking. it's not quite as bad as it was in say 2012 and 2013 but it's still exists. Though I'll advise you to stay away from Ranked matches if you return as it's very bad there. But in Pubs I maybe run into 1-2 a day maybe. Which back in like 2012 it was often 1-2 a match. And lately it SEEMS like they've been considering taking a different approach to the situation but we'll have to see how that turns out.
Other than Ranked i'd say the biggest modes hit by hackers tend to be the mutation based modes lately. Though you still see them come into Ghost and S&D at times.

I'd say as big of a problem as the hacking is....the larger issue is server related and just finding a good room that isn't filled with complete gun hunting nabs that often disconnect within the first 10 seconds of a match.

I should note that my experience is mostly on the NA1 Server. Can't say much for the UK ones really.

Well, if you check the forums 2-3 days in a row you will see that the game is probably worse than when you left.
Cheating is off the charts and even though there have been improvements on the reporting issue, the anti cheat system is outdated.
-Edit- Seeing Ixith's post, the UK servers are working better than they worked the past six months, but lag spikes is a common thing, and for the past few days my ping is +20 from my normal one.

Hackers still exist to a much less degree but a lot more dangerous and undetectable. Only reason I say this is because in the old days sure there were way more hackers but after an update they would all be gone for at least a week, now they are there 24/7 updates don't help and these hacks are paid for making them a lot more dangerous. Servers are unstable but still manageable to play on with frustration. The player base seems to have changed since 2010 days meaning a lot more higher ping based players and laggers.

Well everything is laid out for you the choice of returning is yours!

With that inventory of yours it'd be a shame not to return & let it go to waste ! Anyways, there's alot less hackers compared to the 2009-2014 days just avoid Ranked Matches & going against VIPs might be annoying at first until you buy one or get used to playing against them. It never hurts to give CF another try. Come to your own conclusion

Thanks for the responses everyone, I'll download the game again and give it a go, hopefully I won't run into too many hackers, as that's the main reason I quit the last time.

I've just came back also. Only seen like 2-3 speedknife hackers so far and that hack is not that bad tbh. Aside from that still enjoying the game, also my first

I want to know if the kick vote is still the same . Seriously that is so annoying getting kicked 1 round before the game ends. I remember i was kicked and accused of being a cheater while i was a ghost , and the fact that i was on first place had nothing to do with it .So is it still the same now ?

My advice to you: Don't come back.
Reasons: Hackers, useless Anti-Cheat system, Servers complete failure.

I'm gonna quit soon like lot of other players.

Tell people not to comeback,
Complain that game is dying.

Crossfire was great back then, and it still is today.

I'd say the Kick Vote abuse is down considerably but it still exists. Playing non-team based modes and you don't have to worry about it at all though since it's disabled for modes like FFA, ZMs, and Mutation types.

I'd currently advise everyone to stay very far away from Melee only matches or any game where using a melee is highly beneficial such as mutation type modes, and also from Wave and probably SS TDM as well. Reason being is the Speed Melee hack is going around like wildfire it seems and those are the mode where it'll be the most annoying. Modes like Ghost and you still have a good chance especially if you use sound even a little bit as they have to get close to you.
