Questions for the seasoned players
Finally just got back to crossfire after being absent since 2009. Needless to say I'm ashamed at my performance last night lol. Anywho, alot has changed since 2009. For me an overwhelming amount. I liked the simplicity of the game and members back then. Love the game has evolved this much. Anyone else have a long run of absence and come back shocked? And other than practice, with all the changes, what helped knock the dust off? Happy gaming!

I took an 8 month-1 year break from CF and then came back and the game seemed a lot different but I still came back before the VIP's/AA12/Slug shotguns/New modes so I can only imagine how crazy the game must be for someone who left when CF was just a normal shooter without overly pay to win items.

Can you enlighten me on this VIP stuff? Sicks now that you don't play to earn good weapons s and rank etc. Seems like any rank can get great guns now
To go a little more in depth...VIPs are straight up purchase weapons that you don't have to hope to win in a lottery system. But they are costly unless you get them on their pre-orders (even then kind of costly) but often times that cost isn't as much as some people have to put towards a ZP crate just to win a gun. So in a way...it works out. But all the VIPs give you bonus EXP and GP when equipped in a bag or as a character. They're also generally stronger and easier to handle than their ZP counter parts. But they also, for the most part, all have other perks as well. For example the M4A1s pretty much all give your other rifles +2 ammo when you have it in a bag. The Thompson VIP and the RPK also give SMGs and MGs alike extra ammo. Meanwhile the rifles all have a 2ndary melee attack you can use with them. The Shovel VIP also has the ability to allow you to hit '3' again to change between various offered melee options...usually other shovel skins and base models of several other melee weapons. The VIP Axe has a 2ndary attack after the main attack when you click and hold the right click button. So...like GhostModee said...they're generally OP although some cheap guns kind of make them a moot point at times and people will often QQ at you for using them in matches due to them being stronger and thus adding more of a Pay2Win element to the game.
oh and ranks mean practically nothing...so many high ranks due to farming (and the VIP EXP perks..lol). :P -
i would suggest playing the game HOWEVER, don't spend any money on it.
i love this game, i like the simple gameplay, many modes and maps, the blackmarket (love and hate it), events, how easy it is to find new friends and how easy it is to find eachother in the game.
but it has so many negative things to the point where they sometimes cross a line and don't uphold their duties anymore.
examples:
- the server has been lagging for 7 months now and even though they're trying to fix it, there has still been no good result.
- the anti-cheat systeam still has a 2016 copyright and the hackers have been increasing lately.
- some maps have glitch spots which people can exploit to get easy kills.
these are the 3 major issues, ESPECIALLY the first one. the most basic thing that a game needs; a good server..
that's why i say enjoy the game but don't spend money on it -
I began playing late 2008/early 2009 quitted in 2011/2012, came back in 2013/2014 and was shocked already (vip weapons and everything). I just came back few days ago and the amount of weapens/events is insane, also the game has evolved to a really really famous game.
Well since I'm back I've nothing but enjoyed the game as much as I could. Aside from the hackers ofcourse, gotta say they have no skill at all which makes it bearable to kill them in FFA lol.
Playing alot of search&destroy lately and mostly in UK4, haven't seen a hacker in search&destroy yet, Lucky I am -
Thx guys. Been playing since 2006! And I guess I am old school. The new stuff (since 2009 for me) is all pretty cool I just liked the simplicity of it then. Also seemed liked then it was more player driven to earn, farmers or not. **** changes lol. I still primarily use the old school weapons. I'm still rusty to date but it's also you cannot play without armor anymore due to lower ranks packing beautiful weapons now as well

I believe beta was 2007/2008 and the actual game was released in 2008/2009, anyways don't think crossfire was a thing in 2006 tho.master_mann wrote: »Wasn't CFNA released in 2009? With a beta in 2008 I think?
Aren't you a GM player, used to be in Hide&Seek also? -

Not from 2006 atleast I thought.

Yeah, I was the leader for a while... While I loved that clan, and it was my goal to get into since maybe 2010, I'm sad to say I left because it was too inactive... I would log on most days and see 0 people online for hours, that and most of the well known GM players and my friends from that clan either stopped playing or left the clan
Passed it down to my friend/LT, I'm hoping he can revive it. -
I started playing in 2009 and have taken 2 extended breaks since then, having just started again after a 2 year absence this time. The game has changed a lot, but the fundamental problems still remain unchanged. Although hackers have plagued this game since I started playing 8 years ago, nothing seems to have been done, and the same type of posts are prevalent on these forums, such as straight up complaints about hackers and the anti hacking system, ideas on what could be done about it, etc. as there have always been.
That this game has lasted this long seems nothing short of miraculous to me, but being my first ever FPS, I keep coming back despite its problems. -
I would suggest joinining a clan, and play with them. It's so much better when you play with people rather than playing alone. Im sure they'll answer your questions and guide you on whatever you miss in the games when you were gone . You might learn something new a day or two in an active clan .

Closed beta for CFNA was made available in the last quarter of 2008. It ended somewhere in mid January 2009 with the release of open beta. Been playing this game since closed beta.
Whereas the Korean CF was there in 2007. So you must have played that one. Or if it was the NA one you played then you're wrong about the year.
