Cfgi

  • Rip CFNA.

I just find it absurd that they're basically only selecting the versions with leagues running. There's two invitationals a year and the second one was already only for leagues with CFEL, and now they're making this invitational exclusive as well

But yeah CFNA in specific is getting screwed with regards to events

    Yep.

  • wow didnt see that coming haha no i did not
  • Our last place at cfs probably was the icing on the cake for any na invites
  • Lmao CFNA is finished for now. But seriously, since 2013 the game has gone nowhere.

The fire that was once in CrossFire is not there anymore. - Pyrex 2017
  • I see the worst version and management.

    RIP

Yet they excluded the region that got 3rd at cfs and the region that got 4th

Not sure who's deciding the invites, but hosting events for the same 4-5 regions isn't how you expand a game's competitive scene globally
  • I would love to see something like CFEL introduced to our version where we have competition every weekend. It's kinda unfair that NA doesnt have anything except CFCL that only happens once a year. CFBR is like the spoiled child of Z8Games when they have everything :(
I hope that Teamw0w (STDx) place 1st or 2nd in the upcoming Crossfire Stars so that our version would get more recognition just like Penta and Flipsid3 from Europe.
  • How does this keep happening?

    Cause cfna is dead

It seems like they are only inviting the active regions in this game.
  • Let's be frank: any money invested in the NA comp scene will be effectively wasted. No one plays CFNA anymore, and more importantly, no one in North America cares about CF anymore. There is simply no way for Crossfire to compete against the new, technically superior games(you guys know which ones I'm talking about). Sad, but everything dies :(
  • To be fair (whether we like to admit it or not) the selection makes perfect sense for the most part. The regions that aren't involved in CFEL / CFPL / CFGI have the lower view counts, lower fan base, and lower player bases. The only region that might counter this statement is CFES, where Kowai actually has a good size following and a ok view count and fan base, but when you look at things from a cost perspective it also makes sense. Both the EU and CN teams are already in China, and VN and PH are also very close with good size communities for CF, and BR has the biggest audience outside of China so if you had to pick an extra region to add in thats not near the event BR always makes the most sense even if they didnt perform as well as Ru or Kowai, they have a much bigger audience to bring to CFGI, and at the end of the day audience size is what drives the numbers for esports events.
  • Once our teams start getting in the top 5, we might get some recognition from CrossFire Stars.

I would like them to introduce back the opportunity to have CF North America represent two regions or even three; Canada, USA and UK. Like the good old days...

    True

Also you have to consider if there expansion of esports this year was tailored to focus on EU getting more involved, and who realistically makes the most sense to drive next? NA would be my guess for future focus if they are trying to target the most lucrative competitive regions for esports which seems to be what the focus was for events like IEM and CFPL expanding to EU Audiences.

Also keep in mind the NA 2 regions thing was specific to WCG and was never done in any events actually hosted via CFS / Smilegate. WEM was the one and only non-wcg event that had 2 NA teams.

Those regions have good view counts and fan bases because they have consistent competitions/tournaments. Can't expect ours to grow when we haven't even had any competitive events in over 7 months.
Also with that aside, CFNA still does have the potential to become a big esports title, there just has to be proper advertisement ingame to the players who don't know about e8 and cfcl, and also advertisement outside of the game itself. Many people just like to play the game because of its competitive aspect, as we've seen when CFCL came back a numerous amount of players came back to the game. Even after CFCL ended some old and new players who heard about it going on came to e8, but decided to leave or quit again because of the long "break".

Didn't work out too well for kowaii or rulegends ;d

Well, smilegate acquired WCG at the beginning of the year so maybe we'll see their reintroduction into CF

    True
However for example in Brazil they got CFEL because their competitions that were public made got so big that they did something bigger for the region. Someone could easily step up and run off season events and generate more off season content. It just hasnt happened since ESG left. You cant expect a game to only thrive if they only are motivated when the game itself gives them something back, thats not how games grow. Games thrive when a community is full of individuals driving content and events just as hard as the publisher does. Its not a 1 sided thing nor should it be.

Hey my team tied Flipside for 5th 😂

@ZZXQ the community does need to give back, too.
