How to win zm3 crystal crates?

Just want to know how could i win zm3 crystal crate
Does it depends on difficulty or dmg ?
I play easy (to finish the event fast) but i always get silver crates
Also sometimes i win special crates , in easy mode .. What do special crates depend on to be won ?

Well, I'd imagine it depends both on damage and a little bit of luck.

I managed to grab both a Crystal and Boss Crate against Longbill on hard.

I've won crystal and special boss boxes on easy difficulty multiple times. So it's not really difficulty.

I don't think it's about the difficulty only. I remember that I won some crystal crates on easy difficulty when I had low level. And now I may win gold crates on easy difficulty. So I think it's a mixture between damage,level and difficulty.

there's a list of top 3 after defeating the boss.. Most Top 2 get Crystal crates..

Once I was the first but got silver crate...

There are 2 types of missions:

1- Main mission
2- Special mission

You only get a normal box: silver or gold or crystal from Main missions. Depends on the difficulty, luck and your score.
You will surely get a Crystal box if you play it on Nightmare.
You get Special boxes (purple ones) from Special missions. On lower difficulties, like easy, you get 2 boxes a normal one and a Special one for becoming ACE once you clear the Special mission.
So, you get a special box, if you cleared the special mission and you were the 1st (when you press Tab) at the end of each mission.
On higher difficulties, I believe everyone gets the special box once the Special mission is cleared, but I believe the Special mission must be visible on the right for this to happen.
Special missions:
Mission 1, keep the barrier's health at 80% at least.
Mission 2, don't let the C4 explode.
Mission 3, deal 20% extra damage while focused fire on the weak spot of Atlas.

Want some tip ? If you don't own a VIP that gives you more score than others, you shouldn't play with VIP players that own them. Because they will just become 1st cause of their extra score.
Also, Play with randoms to assure you become 1st.
Furthermore, you should use an AA12 Buster/Infection.

Why I'm telling you not to play ZM3 Fatal Canyon with users that got VIPs ?
Here's a story that I witnessed today. I was playing with low level players, and I was first with 46k score nearly in mission 1 then some VIP entered with only 20% extra score, and he was using a rifle, G11. He killed a few of them then he became 2nd with 44k score, and when the time was up, we all got extra score, but he got much more, so he became 1st, and he got the Special box. I only got a silver box instead of a silver one and a special one cause of this. However, he wasn't that good obviously, so I became first in the boss round luckily. I was 2k ahead of him after that extra score when the mission was cleared. Although I was like 30 - 70k ahead before that..

Note: This is based on what I've noticed, and I could be wrong.

Also, I've already tested this more than 10 times, and I got 2 special boxes on each game (on Easy).



P.S This could be a bug and we shouldn't get Special boxes on lower difficulties (when there's no Special missions visible on the right).

I have a theory stating that you need to be alive at the time your team beats the boss, but I'm not quite sure about it, just played like 10 nighmares and I got special crates only when I was alive,so... more research is needed?

I got a special box for being first in 1 or 2 games while I was dead for beating mission 2's boss I believe.

By the way, I finally managed to clear that special mission

Ok, I believe I have figured it out now.

Yes, as GGamer said, you need to clear Main missions in order to get the silver/gold/crystal boxes, and clear the Special mission to get the Special ones. Who would have known, right? XD

Now, about the 3rd Special mission (the one with the perm Powered Fist) You need to deal enough damage to the Atlas MOUTH to clear it. It's as simple as that.

I got confused with this one at first because the mission was stated more like a suggestion than a task to complete. You can even clear the Special Mission before the Main mission on this stage lol

You can get the "Special" create along with the Crysral create on ALL difficulties, as long as you deal enough damage of course and be ALIVE at the end of the round, for now. I am assuming that after May 14th getting the "Special" create will be a little more difficult. As of now, The new ZM map, Fatal Canyon, has got to be the easiest ZM map CF has ever made, even on Nightmare.
