Crossfire: Cheaters & Laggers feat. The Solution

System-cheats & Latency limit
Crossfire has a huge community mainly focused in China, Vietnam, and Latin America, and there's North American region which is quite small with added servers from UK (used to be). The majority of registered accounts in Crossfire NA are from Egypt compared to the European region. Since the game came out, we're facing cheaters everyday and getting them banned is most likely impossible. This year we've a new anti-cheat called XIGNCODE3 and those who're familiar with the anti-cheats of the majority of the games, XIGNCODE3 is terrible at detecting cheat programs. Could the developers be supporting people to cheat? I don't have the answer. Nowadays, there're a lot of Egyptians, Turks, and few Europeans started to use paid cheating programs which won't be detected by our poor anti-cheat. Another issue we're facing in Crossfire is lag. Experiencing lag is common thing in the gaming community, especially if you live in Middle-East were service providers don't afford fair internet speed and price. However, in the North American region, I've seen middle-eastern players all over the server, lagging with 200-600 ping which should be unplayable and unpleasant for the user. Why don't they play in UK servers with lower latency? I've no idea.

My suggestion for our community issue are the following:
✍Make a brief guide for new players about latency and which server is recommended based on their country.

✍Add latency limit (around 150 ms) in every server, and if the person has more then he or she will be forced to be kicked out of the server.

✍Add new anti-cheat which would detect paid cheating programs. *If detected, do an IP ban.

✍Create a contest were the winning players could participate in moderating the servers to decrease the amount of cheaters. *Only active players and repeat the pickup every ~3 months.

Thank you for your time!

  • thats unreliable (no offense) because what if the player's average is 80ms and he gets alag spike fpr a couple of seconds?he just leaves the game for that and loses is k/d?
About the anti-cheat program: bro our servers are hosted on a 10$ budget,They won't pay more than that for an anti cheat.I agree with the first an last suggestions.BUT THE BIG ISSUE RIGHT NOW
IS the failed to connect to host server which could be fixed in about 20 mins if we had developers like csgo but our poor cf devs.Plus when I tell a mod the problem is in the CF servers they say no its from the country. When I ask another mod,If its from the country's side, they say no, people from other areas are experiencing it also.
  • Well, allow me to go over your Suggestions one by one.

The first one I could agree with, it has even been suggested that the Server Selection should show your "Ping" ranging from green to red depending on how high your Ping is.

The second one is something a lot of people are wishing for, and actually did find application in some other versions, however, with the Servers being a tad bit wonky ping wise, I personally wouldn't want for something like that to be implemented, at least not yet.
Aside from that, the average ping of the populous in CFNA is at the 100-150 Mark, sometimes even higher. We'd most likely be locking quite a lot of people out if it were to get implemented over here. Whether it would still be a reasonable course to pursue, that'd be beyond me.

The 3rd one, highly improbable. Considering the amount of time Gameguard was around, and how long XTrap was around, Xigncode will be here to stay for a long, LONG, time.
And from my knowledge, only Support Bans are permanent on the first offense, and from my knowledge apparently even hardware bans. Anti-Cheat Bans go in a 7/30/Perm Ban pattern(?).
Do I think they should make the Anti Cheat bans stricter? Well, I dunno. Z8 themselves claimed that giving those cheaters a chance rather than outright banning them made most of them stop cheating after they got caught.

The 4th one makes me feel a bit conflicted. I do want to believe that people who have such power wouldn't abuse it, but reality states that giving the ability to ban people to players, active or not, would be quite the dangerous endeavor.
Humans are beings of emotion, imagining someone with such power having a personal vendetta against someone else wouldn't be much of a stretch.

If anything, I'd still be behind trying to give MODs the ability to at least be able to submit prioritized reports right out of an in-game console.

So, there we have it. All in all, I can see that your heart is in the right spot, however some of those might just be a bit too optimistic, regarding the wish to change the current anti-cheat and what not.

They'll need to add warning sign for 5~10 minutes for the player in the chat box before getting kicked out.

    Thanks for your feedback.

Well, that was my first thought too and the only workaround I can think of is that the people who will be chosen for that "job" would have to submit proof of cheating.
They would ban the account in question indefinitely, pending the permanent ban from the support team and obviously, with the first sign of abuse, the person responsible would stop having those powers.
