Ping is killing me after 18 April update

hey guys,
earlier when i play in uk servers, usually my ping is around 180-220 ms.
but after the last update on 18 april (if i am not wrong) my ping is increased between 350-390 ms.
first i thought that it my isp, but when i played in na(us) servers, my ping is around 290-310 ms (before update it was same).
after update no change in na(us) server but huge change in uk server.
i tested my ping on speet test and on other sites, it showing 180-220 ms.

what is the location of uk servers? the servers are moved to some other country or not?

so now i confused what happened to my game.

playing on win 7, form India, on a good isp having a good speed and ping in local game servers(other games) around 30-50 ms .

so guys please help me.

  • 180~220 not even normal ping
    welcome india players :)
  • Well, the Servers didn't just suddenly grow legs and swam across the Atlantic Ocean, I'm afraid.

Depending on the time of day, the Ping usually fluctuates a little, although probably not in such an extreme fashion as yours.

I haven't heard anything about people experiencing Increases of 100+ Ping, so my only conclusion would be that it actually indeed is your ISP which is routing your connection through some not so advantageous places in order to save money.

In turn, leading you to experience a higher Ping as a result.

As for how to fix it? You'd probably have to call up your ISP.

Might as well stop covering up for the buggy servers? I have an increase in my latency as well and i know it's not from my ISP and it's indeed from the servers, so why cover up for it? I mean if we don't cover up everything the game might as well be better and they actually start to fix its issues?

Well that's a tried and tested method of becoming a MOD.

But I think, in this case, the issue might indeed be from OP's ISP. That combined with laggy servers is probably the reason of his super high ping increase. As stated though, OP's initial latency of 180-220 ms was not playable to begin with.

I'd like to tell you to go back to the "I haven't heard anything about people experiencing Increases of 100+ Ping" Part.

I'll gladly admit that the Servers can be quite dodgy at times and that increases in Ping are hardly unheard of, but I have not once heard anything about anyone getting such a huge increase, which brings me to the conclusion that the odds are fairly high that it's his ISP wanting to save a bit of money.

I'd appreciate it if you refrained from painting me as a con-man, while all I did was assess the Situation and draw a for me logical conclusion out of it.

Hell, I can understand your frustration about the Servers, but venting it on me, while I simply thought that due to the huge increase, it wasn't the Servers, or at least to no big part, is hardly reasonable.

I'd like to extend the same sentiment to you. I'm just a Guy who simply tried to help a guy out. Covering for the Servers for the sake of MODship is not something I intend to do.

While I'm very aware that there certainly are a few people who probably are laughing at that previous Sentence of mine, claiming it to be a white faced lie, hand to heart, I truly did not believe that it was the Servers fault on this one.

It could be, I'm not denying that. But my reasoning leaves me to believe that, as you've said, it's his ISP.

I'm not painting you as anything at all plus i do respect you, But hiding problems is not helping, GMs will never get to know about the problems like this, They'll keep thinking the game is a heaven when it's definitely not. And that's why it always takes them too much time to solve anything.

I don't know your intentions but the game is not really what you think it is sir, As for me i'd never be a hypocrite to facts and will point them out because i'm done with this to be honest. I just want to play the game without having unlimited problems everyday.

There's an ongoing problem with disconnections and high latency spikes and they didn't even fix it up in the last patch, because everyone kept saying the game is totally fine, I don't know if you are really playing that much or not, but i'd like to tell you " If you don't have a problem while playing that doesn't mean everyone else isn't ", Why am i telling you this? because you're a well-respected personality here on the forums and you have a voice and they'll consider your words more than anyone else.

Also i hope you don't take my words as offensive, It's just my opinion, Thank you.

I did not mean to come across as blunt or annoyed either. I'd however like to argue that I wasn't really trying to hide anything. I simply didn't view that such a huge increase in Ping would be the fault of the Servers, at least not fully.
I'm sure we'd never hear the end of it on here if it did. And with how many people are reporting issues with the Severs, I'm absolutely certain that the GMs aren't in some state of denial in which they think that everything is fine and dandy.

As for intentions? I'm just here to help folks out, and to have discussions with other people who are playing CrossFire.
As I've said, I'm well aware of the Issues this Game currently has. The Attendance System, the Spotty Servers, People not being able to start Games, and disconnecting as soon as they join a Game as soon as they start, to name a few.

But most of that is up to Smilegate, not Z8. So long as Smilegate ain't hurrying it up, it's Z8 who tends to take the brunt of the players. Many rant against Z8 these days, while most of it frankly doesn't really fall under their jurisdiction. At least I think it doesn't.
From what I hear, they are aware of the Issues, and forwarded what they could to Smilegate, so we'll have to wait on Smilegate to try find a solution. Continuously pointing out something on the Forums that has been said thousands of times already surely can't be the solution to everything.

Just because some people on the Forums say they have no issues, doesn't mean that Z8 thinks all is well in the world. The Forums make up a laughably small democratic, although admittedly, most of that are Veteran players. I am quite flattered on that whole "respected personality" part.

And no, I'd hardly be offended. People having different opinions just... happens to happen. Hearing each other out usually is the key to resolve differences. I do respect your opinion, very much so.

However, I'm of the mindset that Z8 is at the very least TRYING to get things done. But with Smilegate as the Middleman, more often than not, things might not go as fast as we'd all want. It's understandable that folks are frustrated, with how long these issues are going on.

I'm of the opinion that we should stay vigilant for as long as it takes. I'd certainly hate to see the Game I picked up in 2009 go under, but having a constant negative stigma of issues that need to be called out kinda makes the Forum a not so happy place.

I do thank you for taking the time to hear me out. It certainly is better than being at each others throats.

If you feel like continuing this talk, feel free to write me a PM, I'll be sure to answer whatever inquiry you might have.

    Same goes to you, Khalifa.
  • I'll admit while my ping isn't increasing in the 100's, I have seen a ~40% increase in ping. Though it's only an increase of about 8-9 ping for me, on others I imagine it can be quite frustrating going from 100-140, especially when I'm having trouble registering hits sometimes at 30 ping.

After reading all that, I feel like I'd have to kill some cute kittens to feel manly again.
