Reg/Laggers

So, I've played quite a few different CrossFire Versions so I know what it is like having high ping. And it's horrible. I've played CFEU (~110 ping), CFBR (~170 ping), CFCN (~200 - 250 ping), and some other versions. In CFBR and CFCN, it was almost impossible for me to play because of the ping. It didn't matter how many shots were fired, I just couldn't reg. But in NA it seems to be the opposite. People with 200 ping in CFNA have all the advantages. I played CFBR with ~170 ping and I couldn't mutate people because of the ping being too high, yet here in CFNA, when 200 ping kids mutate me, they do it the first time they swing while I'm literally soooo far away. It becomes frustrating. I took 3 days off last week because spike is now for MP and almost every 200 ping has it, which means even more range. I feel like this version was optimized for laggers since they're the majority. Is it possible? Idk. Does it make sense? Yes, it does. I get killed behind walls after being there for good 2-3 seconds just chilling, yet I 1 tap someone in the head and do like 30 damage...

Every single day I see videos of a CFVN YouTuber who only plays HMX, and the range he gets mutated is so close, while I get mutated from miles away. In NA, these laggers completely brake the game that sometimes their hit boxes as mutants are gone. Like, seriously, they're gone. You can slash them as many times as you want, it doesn't hit. When a lagger is the Commando and he right clicks, I am always the one who dies, even though I am far back. So unfair.

I used to play this game pretty much everyday, but I've been taking too many breaks lately. And I feel like I am going to take more and more brakes till I just stop playing this game completely.

What do you think? Did the Devs optimize this game for the laggers since they're the majority?

  • I don't play hmx that often so I cannot relate to that issue.
    The interp is just dumb.
I'm split between being at an advantage or disadvantage. In escape you get people who tank sniper shots, lag into the portal, lag off your screen and what not, which is super frustrating. Then you get the others that keep trying to counter snipe you and either you die 3 seconds after you peek or you don't need to even move because they can never get a shot off lol.

Ghost mode is pretty messed up by the delay. You melee someone they tank it and rail on you or you die to one as gr but never hear them lol.

Tldr: idk about hmx. The other modes are 50/50 in my experience

I wouldn't say that it's 50/50 for me in HMX, I mean, it's nice to be able to quick scope because my ping is low, it's faster for me to change to a melee and parkour away from the wave of mutants that are coming my way. But you still get mutated from far away, you get mutated when you're behind them, their hitboxes disappear completely (mentioned on another thread and someone said they encounter the same problem), when commando and they stab, you're the one who usually dies, they mutate you with the first swing, etc. I played HMX on another version with pings from 170 to 250 and it's impossible to do what these players with 200 ping do here in NA...

I would love to know the proper definition of 'tanking' in terms of a FPS game.

When I say tanking I refer to a situation when your attack hits the opposition and does 0 dmg

Why do people cry 'tanker' some times when they're killed?

Some people use it incorrectly. Like I'll get leg shot with an awm and someone will call me a tanker when really they just missed lol. If I took the awm shot to the chest and it did 0 I tanked the shot.

That's why I refrain from using these ambiguous terms while in game. I'm happy with mostly using only noop, camper, glitcher and so on, only because they're so mainstream.

Coming to the second part of your response, how do you have 0 dmg even after taking a shot to the chest, and if so, how does that make you the offender? Can it be done deliberately? If not, then why do people cry 'tanker' for being a victim of the game's mechanics, and not yours?
  • And why my posts got deleted again without a reason , dear mod?

Only somewhat. If I go to the uk and snipe I get a lot qq. It isn't my fault the game doesn't compensate for ping discrepancies but I'm not playing where I should be either.
So when you get someone bouncing all over the place with a 300 ping and it takes multiple awm shots to kill them it's like please go away lol. Again not their fault the game cannot compensate for their lag. Buuuut they either live to far from the server they selected or have terrible internet which is not the games fault.

To get this thread a bit more on track. The path it was heading would just lead to it's closure.
If you want to discuss the topic at hand feel free too.
  • i encountered some weird issues regarding this lately. (my pings around 22 btw)

The Reg of CF has never been onpoint when it comes to playing vs ppl with 80+ ping.
but nowadays. when you actually find some1 with lower pings the real struggle begins.

example. i played a few CWs today.
The ones where we played against 80+ pingers was pretty "fine" when it comes to the reg, u usually need 2-3 extra shots to get the kill. (riffle)

then we played a few matches vs ppl with 40 or lower pings, and they "tanked" so damn many bullets it took the fun away complete, point blank ak47 to the head/chest half a mag did around 37dmg.... 1 taping did not reg at all, u see the enemy "bounce" back a lil and the blood, but not a single dmg has been dealt.

from my seeings, the reg situations have been moved more towards "high pingers" and i totally agree with that, and yes it would obv makes sense cuz we have more ppl with high pings, than we have with low.
Making the game nearly unplayable when 2 UK teams play VS each other is pretty annoying imo.
  • The reg in this game upsets me that i die a little in the inside when high pingers have a better advantage than me.

You're right about this. It's not games fault, it's either their internet or country they live in. Now, let's be honest, someone with 300 ping, CAN'T enjoy game AT ALL and he's ruining gaming experience to everyone else. BUT, even though it's not games fault, that doesn't mean they can't stop such players by limiting ping...

I really, really feel bad for my Australian buddies who love to play this game and have been demanding for an Australian server since the beginning of this game. I kind of get too upset when I see them struggling with their 270+ pings to have a better gameplay experience. But the point is that they're really just a handful, but the majority of laggers play from internet cafes with low accounts and from a specific country, who just wanna have fun regardless of if other peoples' games are ruined.

This is what I've been looking for. I knew what 'tanking' in MMORPGs meant, but was always dubious about its usage in an FPS game. So 'tanking' in an FPS game means eating up a good number of bullets, without undergoing substantial damage, like a tank would take any number of bullets without showing any noticeable damage.

Which, again, brings us to the point that calling someone a tanker, when you're own ping is thrice as much as theirs, is not really a smart thing to do, because they are not really at any fault.
