How do you get event points(EP)

I stopped playing this game like 2 years ago and i came back now 1 month.
Can free players get them?Some links on where to get or how to get them are super welcome.

You earn Ep through events. Like this event for example:

Yes free users can earn EP. There is no current EP event going on but a new patch is coming soon (5th april) = new events

Keep an eye on the announcement section for new EP events.

I completed several events.. Can you explain for me now why Icant earn EP please?

Before there was EP with weekend event.
But when mercenary pass starts,EP stopped coming with weekend event and now coming only through mercenary pass,except if they add events for EP.
